What are your favorite quotes?

I've always loved this old classic, and I often think of it when I read the results of surveys in the news:

"There are three types of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics."

I've seen this attributed to Mark Twain, who in turn attributed it to Benjamin Disraeli.

When I worked for local government we often got entitled ratepayers telling us that they payed our wages. We rejected that out of hand and told them that they paid their rates and that we took our instructions from management...
It is government who is 'entitled'. It is a citizen's duty to keep himself aware of his government's activities.

'Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' --Lord Acton paraphrased

You appear to have missed my point, I could have said that when I was at the casino we had entitled gamblers who claimed that they paid our wages. Their ignorance was either ill informed or wilful because they failed to acknowledge that they paid the house and the house only.
Speaking of governments, in your country and mine we have federal, state and local governments, so there are a lot of variables surrounding the corruption and abuse of power. Enough said because we're making an effort not to politicise the boards at present.
