Like many oft=quoted sayings, this is blatantly Untrue! Baseball is the most sentimental sport, if not the most sentimental activity, in the world, with all the heroes and honoring and such. I think it made a good movie line - and that’s all. I played a number of years, mostly as a catcher. I knew two pitchers who would cry. One out of frustration when he was having a bad game, another when he got pulled early by the coach. And that’s nothing compared to the hit-by-pitches that I saw up close. Even the umpire sometimes!
