What brand and make is your lawn mower?

Thanks Holly. Its not what I wanted but I can't wait forever for the perfect photo. At lest it's recent. I wish I had had the sense to take that darn leather string off the cabinet behind me (I use it to tie back a curtain) so it doesn't look like I have a horn on that side of my head.

As city dwellers, we currently only have a little over 1/2 acre of land. I use a Toro 22" self propelled mower that I bought at Home Depot 8 years ago.

That's close to what I have. Ony mine is an even cheaper 22 inch Troy Built self propelled from Lowes that I bought from my brother-law for 100 bucks. What the self propelled part means in reality is that it's a little easier to push. I also have a lot that is a little over 1/2 acre. .56 of an acre to be exact. It's a beast to cut with that mower. I divided it up. Usually do the front one week and the back the next. Each 1/2 takes me about an hour and ten minutes. Almost everybody in my neighborhood has either a riding mower or they hire a lawn service. I'm seriously thinking of going the lawn service route.

Don't remember, We bought our first condo in 1987 and I gave away the mower. Haven't missed it yet.

That sounds like Nirvana to me. I hate this big house and big yard. Too much upkeep. Not that the house is all that big. It's only a little over 2,000 square feet. But it's way more than a retired couple needs. About a 1200 square feet condo with a little bit of common green area that I pay HOA fees for someone else to take care of would be ideal IMO.

Kubota BX-1500 diesel with front end loader, belly mower, and 4 ft brush hog for fields and woods.

I used to have a fantastic lawnmower, I called it Larry the Lamb. He cut the grass smashing and ate the stuff too, the downside was he left smelly balls everywhere....:)

It takes me about the same 2 hours to complete both front and back yards. I don't mind it much, I consider it good exercise. It blows my mind how many perfectly capable, young men hire a landscape company to take care of their yards these days.

I recently found out that my mower is 21 inches, not 22. The last time I mowed I noticed the front drive wheels were bald. It was a bit of a pain but I finally found the right kind on the internet and ordered a new pair for 51 bucks. Today was the first time I used the mower with the new drive wheels and I could tell it was easier. It actually does propel itself now as long as the ground is level and even. I was able to finish the front lawn in one hour on the nose instead of the usual hour and ten minutes.

The best mower I have had was this Cub Cadet 23hp with a 50 inch cut..It lasted me 10 years doing the bulk of the 4.33 acres..

Once again planning has it's benefits namely downsizing. Prior to retirement 5 bedroom home on 8 acres with 3 1/2 acres to mow. Bought no maintenance, tile roof, stucco exterior 3 bedroom home 2 car garage with no maintenance desert landscaping.

Best I can remember about 30 years ago, sons took turns cutting the lawn on a 18 hp. 3 speed Sears riding mower. Took about 8 gallons of gas.
