What brand/model printer do you have?

I need a new printer/copier/scanner. My needs are very simple at this point and probably only use it once a month or so, I don't even want color. I definitely don't want one that ties you up with an ink subscription but need one the ink won't dry out on between use. Needs to connect wirelessly with phone, tablet and laptop.

So what are you using? What should I stay away from?

Canon. Very satisfied. Older model, can't remember when I bought it, but I have always found Canon to be a trustworthy brand.

I've got an Epson wireless printer that my daughter got for me years ago. I never use it because it never works until I do some kind of maintenance to it. The rollers have to be cleaned every time I go to use it or the paper doesn't feed. I'm never really sure how it works and have to reeducate myself each time. It usually takes me a half hour to get it working.

The other printer is a Canon MP480 but isn't wireless and always works no matter how much time goes by (unless it needs new cartridges). It's the best printer I ever owned and was given to me by my place of employment for being there 5 years at the time.

I've searched for printer reviews and there are some helpful videos on YouTube.

I seldom need a printer, so I bought the cheapest Cannon I could find, I have had ink dry out because I don't use it enough. I have it set to black and white, and I only replace black ink. Mine is not wireless. Well, I don't think it is. I'd buy it again.

I'm still using a Cannon PIXMA MG2220 inkjet that I purchased from Walmart on 9-1-2013 for $30.00 according to the receipt....very seldom print anything but when I do it still works great.

I've had to replace the ink cartridges a time or two and like most printers they end up costing darn near as much or more than the printer.

Yeah. Cartridges for Canon are expensive.

Brother - HL-L2370DW Wireless ... it's been good, but not any better or worse than others I've had.

I have the Brother MFC (Multi-function something?)-2750DW. Works OK on WI-FI, but I could never figure out how to connect it via Ethernet cable. It's a B&W laser copier, scanner, printer.

I also have a Dell C-3760 which is a color laser, duplex printer. Older than dirt, but it keeps running just fine.

But my main point to this discussion is this -- inkjet printers/scanners/copiers are a thing that simply doesn't wash any more. Lasers are much, much cheaper than they used to be and even toner costs are way down. YMMV.

Don't fall for the hype that 3rd party toner cartridges are bad ju-ju. That's just a scam that they all use to get you to buy their high-priced toner cartridges.

Mine is qute old, it's a Canon Pixma.... TS9155 Printer copier scanner....Incredibly easy to use, and no tie ups to Ink subscripton.

I would never touch HP....

I’ve got a Brother Laser printer that i paid $129.99 for in 2015 & it’s still going strong.
Alas Amazon is now selling it for $315.95 which is a tad much for once-per-month use.
But never had a single problem with it all these years so i def can endorse the Brother brand.

HP Envy ... but I only print one sheet a month on average, for my monthly financial worksheet.
So when the printer ran out of ink in the color cartridge, I haven't replaced it.
The printer throws a message that it is in one cartridge (black) mode, but continues to print fine, Just not in color.

I had thought maybe the printer wouldn't work at all if out of color ink and was pleasantly surprised it did just fine in black only.
Saves a nickel or two on color ink cartridges.

EDIT: I also use third party ink cartridges that are much less expensive than HP OEM cartridges.

The ins for the Canon are very cheap which is a good thing because I rarely use the colour inks, but I do use the black a lot for printing out addresses for my online sales ... I've just replaced the whole lot last week.. and 7 cartridges cost just around £13..00..you just have to shop around

Canon Pixma 3620. Had it for years and still going a great job. A neighbor came over and asked me to fax something.......FAX!....I had to laugh. I haven't heard that term years. I had to show how him to scan and send.

Is there something special about a FAX? Something that makes it more official or legal? My pharmacy in Canada has a FAX number to send prescriptions to. I can't FAX so, I photograph the prescription and send that. OK that gets the process started, but then I have to send the actual prescription by snail mail, which can take a long time to get to Canada.

Later they told me a FAX, if sent by my doctor is all they need. I understand they need a prescription but why will they accept that by FAX from a doctor, but not from me? Do doctors have FAX machines that are more honest?

Thanks for the replies, I'm not sure I'm any closer to making a decision but will figure it out. lol

Canon Pixma MX922. This is the second one I've had. I bought the first one maybe ten years ago. I used the "cheap" ink and it killed the printer after a couple of years. Bought an identical replacement printer and have used only Canon ink with no further problem. Canon ink is very expensive.

The printer works well in wireless mode with our home LAN. It makes decent copies and is fast enough once it actually starts printing, but it seems to have to "think" for a long time between pressing the copy button and the start of the print.

If I were to buy another printer it would be a laser printer.

Years ago, we had an Epson. When I bought my first Mac from Micro Center, they threw in a Canon printer for free. I liked it so much that I let my husband take the Epson to his store. When my first Canon went, my grandson gave me a brand new updated model, still in the box. My DIL had brought it for him but at the time, he lived in on the second story of their two floor apartment. He'd always just come downstairs and use their computer and printer.

I like the ease of changing the ink cartridges, but I haven't used my printer in over a year. My son never hooked it up when I got my Dell last year. I don't know if it will still work because I had to update the drivers a couple of years ago and don't know if I'll have that option again.
