The study looked at the depreciation suffered by three-year-old cars that were recently sold, with the average being 15%.

I have only ever had white or blue cars, not always by choice, just worked out that way.
 

I don't really have a favorite, but most of them have been red.

I grew up in snow country and it was drummed into me to pick a color that would stand out against the snow in a blizzard or whiteout.
 
I've had red and blue cars .. o/h goes for silver, black or white. We will be due for a new lease in a few months. I believe we're going for red or blue this time around. Red is the most visible, and I think that's important, especially in inclement weather.

Pinky, avoid anything red in a burgundy hue. I find that color blends in with surroundings during certain conditions. Maybe it's just me, but I've had burgundy-colored cars suddenly appear out of shadow on a sunny day when I'd swear there was nothing coming toward me.
 
It seems like most cars I see on the road are white, silver, or light gray. In my mind, I consider that one color, the I don't want to stand out color.

I have two red cars. I also have an old white pickup, which I drive about 500 miles a year. I bought it with cheap as the most desired color, because I only drive it for very specific situations. And of the non-color colors, white is my favorite.
 
When I travel the highways and byways of Canada along the road to Chicken, Alaska, I see a lot of black cars. Henry Ford once said, "You can have any colour you want as long as it is black." I am not for black. I like red so it shows up in some Costco or other mega parking lot. My car at home is "silver" on the registration papers but I sure can't tell.

I can't do the poll, as I can't choose 'grey'. There are shades of grey. My favorite car was charcoal grey. I bought it to match my favorite cat. The interior was light grey, which did not match my cat, but the contrast was nice.

Thanks for that tip. I'm pretty certain that the Honda is a fairly "true" red, but will keep that in mind!

Sorry, but I must disagree. White is the most visible which is why I bought white. If you drive down a dark side street at night you will notice white more clearly. Also, when pulling out from an intersection, I've noticed it's harder to pick up black and grey cars since the grey road is in the background.

I owned one black car a few years ago. Oddly, black seems to be horrible choice for showing dirt. I think it's worse than white (I've had both). But maybe it depends on the color of the local dirt.
 
If it is in excellent running condition and does not break down it could be yellow with black stars. For safety, I guess red would be the best though. White cars can blend in with the snowbanks and grey cars blend in with the pavement. Also, red is the color of choice for collector cars.

From the survey, red does seem to be the single most favored color, and Mazda charges an extra $500 for it. It is even reflected in the trade in value. But on the road, red is still not very common, as most cars (again from the survey) are among the non color group, which in my mind includes mostly white, silver, and gray, and some others like champaign and beige.

My current car is white because I only buy used cars and this was the one that I could afford. I once had a beige station wagon that didn't show my kind of dirt, and I loved that! I'm fond of silver/grey, but beggars can't be choosers!
 
I think back in the 50s, there were many more colors for cars, and two tones were common, maybe even a large majority. But I haven't seen a two tone in the last 20 years, except for classics that have been restored.
 
Hard to choose, 1st new car=a gold Mustang, I' ve had 2 Red convertibles,
a Gold Honda Accord
A blue/grey 280Z, current.. Silver Acura

US Transportation determined that Orange or Yellow is the most visible, especially in snow storms.
