What comes first?

I guess purpose is supposed to give your life meaning. I think it is all B.S. What if you find purpose boring even though everyone else says it gives your life meaning? What if doing the little things you like are what give your life meaning even though there is no particular purpose to them?

I can cast my hands out to the side of me, and in my left, place meaning, and in my right, purpose, and at the end of the day nothing changes, and everything stays the same.

Unfortunately if chickens began hatching from dinosaur eggs, they would have gone extinct pretty quickly.
And people think chickens are stupid...they knew what they were doing.

Jokes aside, some paleo-scientists pointed out the physical similarities between a chicken embryo and your typical dinosaur and you could hardly tell the difference. Except one was super tiny and the other wasn't.

Where you draw the line between one species and another is somewhat arbitrary, and depends on how you define the species in question.

If you had a chicken and a time machine, you could go back through time and watch as your chicken came out of an egg, which came out of a chicken, which came out of an egg, which came out . . .

Eventually, as you watched the chickens gradually change over millennia, you would come to a bird which is definitely NOT a chicken. Then you could move forward in time until you saw something that definitely IS a chicken.

But between “definitely not a chicken” and “definitely is a chicken,” there will be many many many generations. And because each generation will be essentially identical to both the previous generation and the next generation, you will find that identifying the very first chicken is impossible. You will never find a parent and an offspring which are of different species. “Is a chicken” will never hatch from an egg laid by “not a chicken.”

==========

In the early stages of development, the embryos of all quadrupeds (amphibians, reptiles, mammals, birds) are very similar since they share common ancestry.

There is no purpose in doing another persons purpose in life. That defeats meaning in one’s life. Meaning is not boring if meaning was boring it would not be meaningful to you.

This particular question took on new meaning in the course chickens, eggs, dinosaurs and why can’t chickens fly long distance. Not exactly the response I might have imagined, although highly insightful

What comes first, meaning or purpose?
Adding to your question, regarding "meaning", we can view meaning from both an old form as well as new.

Is it an old meaning, or is it a new meaning.

Additionally, is it an established meaning, or is it simply a common understood meaning.
