What did you always want for Christmas and never got?

I always wanted a chemistry set. Every year, my mother said "chemistry sets are for boys."

I really don't think she believed that; I think she just didn't want me turning the house into a radioactive waste site.

I can't recall. I always got lots of gifts as a kid. We didn't have much money but my mom always made sure she'd get us lots of toys on Christmas.

A real live puppy, closest I got was a little battery operated pup and I loved it.

By the time I found out they existed, there were no more. The next summer, however, I bought some neat ore samples at a rock shop in Colorado as well as a Geiger counter. Interestingly, my father insisted that I keep the Geiger counter in our fallout shelter when I wasn't using it.

As a little boy, I never wanted a Horse...I wanted a Pony.

I wanted figure skates. I skated all winter every year, using skates I borrowed from a neighbor. They were a little big so I wanted my own when I started doing spins and jumps.

That's all I asked for several years for Christmas and my birthday in November, but I never got them, so I saved my money and bought my own. A month later, all of my non-skating siblings got ice skates for Christmas. I was devastated. Looking at it from an adult perspective, I'm sure Mom thought if they had skates they might learn to enjoy skating like i did. Too bad, because those skates were never used.

The other thing I asked for through several Christmases was my own .22 rifle. My brother was great about letting me use his and Dad had several, but I was shooting on a team and getting very involved in marksmanship so I wanted my own gun.

For many years I have wanted a platinum ring full of big diamonds with earrings to match. Don't believe I will every get those. But that doesn't stop me from dreaming and wishing for them.
