What did you learn by rote at school

We learned the times tables "Parrot Fashion". Every morning 2 times up to 12 times. Back to front, front to back and then the teacher would call out 5x10, 12x6, 8x7, and each child had to fire back the answer. I loved it and that has remained with me all these years, my boys used to say, "How can you remember that so fast", I said we had the best teacher, the same with spelling, had to learn very fast.
 

I had to stay late after senior chemistry class to write this 1000 times on the blackboard before leaving.
Fortuntely he got tired of me being there long before that and let me move on. However I didn't do that again.
"I will absolutely, positively, never, in the chemistry laboratory, squirt my water bottle at the other students or the teacher."
 

In the U.S., aside from the usual required songs, etc, during WWII we also had our Hitler, et al ditties. Of course Hirohito and his mob didn't get off free either.
