What Do You Consider Real Fun?

I'm a bit of an adrenalin junkie, so I like thrills for fun. Really intense ziplines and I love being up high in buildings and aerial gondolas. Up until recently, I sought out extreme thrill rides but retinal problems put paid to any more of the high-G force rides.

On the milder side, a quaint town with a lot of great antique stores rings my bell. Travel to interesting places ranks high, too.

Meeting happy people as I walk my dog on the beach with the ocean breeze in my hair and the warmth of the sun. Everyone is relaxed and happy and curious about what kind of dog I have. It starts many a conversation.

Early morning healthy breakfast at an outdoor sidewalk cafe that is dog friendly as I watch the people walk by while reading something good or goofing off on my laptop.

Riding in a convertible, top down, perfect weather, scenic views, sunglasses, Bella with her paws up on the door to catch that wind (my hand on the leash) and some good music playing. That's my next car (my daughter says I'm going through mid-life crisis ha) but I do get a ride in a convertible every now and then and I had one in my 20's.

Exploring. Especially interesting little towns and villages where I've never been. In my motorhoming days, having a full tank of gas, my Rand McNally and no committments or obligations was the best fun ever. Age and health have brought about a more sedate lifestyle but the curiosity remains. I miss the excitement of new discoveries.

Also fun to me ..... having a new canvas, plenty of thread and an exciting new needlepoint pattern.

I'm not sure it qualifies as 'fun' but I get great joy from watching a beautiful sunset. Sunrises can be equally as joyful but they happen too darn early. Watching a full moon rise up out of the ocean is pretty spectacular as well. All are better in an ocean setting.

Just checked Wiki - Fun denotes activity, joy is more passive.

Hey,Lara -- what kind of dog is Bella? I LOVE dogs!

I'm with Tnthomas, hiking anywhere out in nature, especially mountain areas, throwing in a fishing line or two in a quiet remote lake or bobbing up and down on huge ocean waves way out before they break and foam. Anything to do with nature and watching wildlife is always fun for me.

Playing poker at the casino. I get a kick out of matching wits with 6 or 8 other players, and leaving with a few bucks more than I started with. If I were younger, I would seriously think about buying into one of the major poker tournaments, but I don't think I could stand days of such intense pressure anymore.

I'm happiest when I'm at a Shooting Range with my Remington .223 or my Winchester.30-30 rifles and my Ruger Colt .45 six-shooter.

My wife shoots too...she has a .22 Ruger semi-auto pistol.

We shoot side-by-side at the range, and when I'm blasting away with my .45, I'll occasionally put a big hole among the small .22 holes in her Target, and we have a laugh at that!

Shooting provides a release not found in other endeavors, I find.

HiDesertHal (My email address has "colt45" in it)

Going to Disneyland when it's less crowded and only having to wait in line a half hour for my favorite rides like Space Mountain, The Matterhorn, Pirates of the Caribbean (Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirate's Life For Me :pirate: ha ha!), The Haunted Mansion, the Log ride. That being said, I haven't been to Disneyland in over 30 years! Oh how I want to go again and check out all the new attractions, and I'm sure I would be surprised by how much it has changed. I was so disappointed when they took out the Monsanto House of the Future. Sure it was outdated but I still thought it was cool! And I've never been to California Adventure. Guess I will always be a kid at heart :bounce:
