What do you do for canker sores?

I have one under my tongue. I tried rinsing my mouth with salt water with no relief. Sometimes it hurts real bad.

How do you deal with those?

Home Remedies

  1. Salt Water Rinse: Rinsing your mouth with a mixture of salt and warm water can help reduce inflammation and promote healing. Swish it around your mouth several times a day.

  2. Honey: Applying honey directly to the sore may help reduce pain and speed up healing due to its antibacterial properties.

  3. Aloe Vera: Using aloe vera gel on the sore can soothe irritation and promote healing.

  4. Milk of Magnesia: Dab a small amount on the canker sore to help relieve pain and create a protective barrier.

  5. Hydrogen Peroxide: A diluted solution (50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% water) can be applied to the sore with a cotton swab to keep it clean and reduce bacteria.

Over-the-Counter Treatments

I had one a couple of nights ago. After brush/mouthwash, I put some Capho-Phinique (sp?) on it. Gone the next day.
Sometimes it takes a few days/applications. I got this sore from chomping down on the side of my mouth while eating in bed (Ouch!)... I know, I should have expected that. But Spooky was comfy and I didn't wanna bother her. (self-facepalm)
only issue is it says campho phinique can't be used inside the mouth.

In the military, we had an Officer that got canker sores. The medic prescribed he take a teabag, make it wet and place it under his tongue and against the sore for pain relief. Sometimes it gave him relief and sometimes it didn’t.

He also used a medication named Kank-A that he bought at a drugstore. (I keep a small tube here also.)

Canker sores and cold sores are completely different things. Cold sores are contagious blisters caused by the herpes simplex virus, usually on or around the lips, while canker sores are non-contagious ulcers inside the mouth.
When I would get a cold sore, I could feel it beginning to start with my lip beginning to buzz. My doctor prescribed a pill to take as soon as I felt it coming on and if I took the pill soon enough, the cold sore would never develop. The medication is Acyclovir, which fights off cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus. I keep it handy because I get one about twice a year caused mostly by stress.

Under the tongue is a rough place to try and heal. Any mouth sores I come up with dentures or even biting my inner cheek
I use this stuff always, has worked really fast for me. Mouthful swished around every few hours, then lessen as it heals.

For the past 10 years or more, I never got any mouth issues, including canker sores after starting to use, 'Listerine' or 'Crest mouth rinse' twice a day, before the breakfast and before going to the bed.
