What do you feel when you hear these words, "The Class Of 2022"?

As a member of the Class Of 1964, when I heard the phrase, "The Class Of 2022",it made me feel like a dinosaur, munching on tree leaves. I know it is 2022 , but the "Class of 2022" seems to enhance the age difference. They are just starting to come out of the nest, and I'm retired.

Haven't really thought about what I feel about the class of 2022. But now that I've had a few minutes to think about it I feel great that I'm still here from the class of 1959.

Considering what I think is ahead for the grads of 2022 I feel sorry for them.

I feel somewhat lucky to have graduated in the '70s. Kids graduating today are screwed if they don't come from wealthy families. The cost of living is so high right now, and with skyrocketing inflation, getting higher by the day. I guess eventually, things will work out, but right now, it would be tough.

On the other hand, there are a lot of exciting fields one could enter right now. I think if I was a young lad just out of high school, I'd go into robotics engineering — given that I could afford to go to college.

[EDIT] Looking back, my generation was pretty screwed, too! The country was experiencing a severe recession and inflation was starting to kick in during the mid-'70s. But at least we had good music!

You could afford it because they make it so easy to get student loans, at least that was my impression from the semester course system at my daughter's school, it looked like she could pick classes then go through a check-out -- like Amazon but instead of choosing which credit card there was a choice of loans.

I know I'm 76 years old. My 'kid' brother is 66. And it's 2022. But there's something about hearing "The Class of 2022" that makes me feel ancient. The Class of 64 was THE first non WWII class. 1964 was still a hope filled class, before the 6Os fell apart. The Class of 2022 made it seem so far ago.

I think my class of '51 had it easier. It was a time when intelligence and hard work could go a long way toward a successful life.
