What do you have to do to go to Prison for life ..serial killer of 24 released from prison

I think the answer to this is not to bring back the death penalty but bring back, "life without parole."

We, as older people, should get together and tell the courts that just because we're old doesn't mean we can't kill and assault. I hear detectives on Dateline saying, "a woman couldn't do this," or "this man couldn't have done it because he's ill or walks with a cane." Well I'm, old, a woman, and walk with a cane, but I can still do whatever I want to when the desire is there.

Yesterday, I drove my dog to the vet, left my cane in the car and carried her into the office, fending off all the big dogs in the waiting room who wanted me to put her down so they could play with her. I'm sure I could put anti-freeze in my husband's Dr. Pepper, like all those other wives.:sneaky:
That's true about age. I've read plenty of news stories of peoplre in their 70s, 80s and 90s committing crimes. I remember one case where an 80 year old man went to the leasing office of his apartment complex and pulled a gun out on the people in the office. I guess he was mad at them for something. they said he kept threatening them before and I guess they didn't believe him. He shot one and held them hostage till someone called the police. Old people can do a LOT of stuff! Age is only a number.

In case I haven't said it before, the world seems to be run by crazy people. The nut houses have bee closed and they are out on the streets. Many of them are running for political office.

It's a world where the innocent are punished and the guilty are rewarded. It sure isn't my world and it sure doesn't make any sense anymore.

The problem is that police are protected by Federal Law & immune from any prosecution for doing nothing to protect anyone.
You may recall during the 1992 Los Angeles riots that followed the acquittal of the 4 officers who pounded on Rodney King.
When people were pulled from their vehicles & beaten by mobs, police officers LEFT the area, which led to that trucker (Reginald Denny) being beaten almost to death & left with permanent brain damage. People complained about the police & called them "Cowards" & leaving the scene, but they also weren't charged because their actions were protected under federal law.
Except when defenseless persons are in clear & imminent danger and/or there is an active shooter, police have an obligation to ensure the safety of the victim. Whether they barge in or toss in a bang-bomb or call for a sniper or SWAT, doesn't matter, it is their duty to act; in this case, to neutralize the threat.

In the King case, the officer's defense was that they perceived a threat. Cops are protected by federal laws but they don't don't have blanket immunity - cases are judged independently. Those guys may be found faultless, but meanwhile they've been relieved of their duties and fairly charged.

I haven't kept up to date so I'm not sure what happened when a judge heard the charges (formally). Charges may have been dismissed, or reduced, or they might be home enjoying Christmas right now.... maybe while they await trial, maybe not.

Hope your having a pleasant one, Norm. We'll be going over to my son's place in a little bit. The other son & wife arrived in Kansas this morning to spend it w/their son & grand-cuties.
