What do you like about where you live?

While you can talk about the climate, scenery, etc,;basically it's what I can afford.

I think that is true for all of us.

I enjoy living in my little third-floor walkup apartment.

It is reasonably priced, conveniently located, has concrete walls, steel doors, and good deadbolt locks!

I have a nice view, plenty of fresh air and no one has tried to climb in a window, yet!

The downside is climbing up and down 39 steps to the parking garage, laundry area, mailboxes, etc... but it's good exercise and without all those steps I would not have the view, fresh air, and feeling of security.

I like the clean and quiet country environment. This morning, as I stepped out onto the porch with my morning coffee, there were 7 deers in the front yard, munching on the grass that is starting to turn green....they are the Best neighbors in the world.

Never see that here! One of the reasons we want out of Florida and back in either Colorado or up into southeastern Wyoming.

"What do we like about where we live?"............basically, nothing! Miss too many things we had in Colorado, that definitely aren't here. Can hardly wait to move, but at least visiting there this summer for a week, with cowboy hats, boots and Wrangler jeans on.
Money Magazine did a study and suggests that the best place to live in Colorado is Lone Tree. It's a quick drive or light train rail into Denver for easy nights out. But there is plenty to keep you busy within Lone Tree....Arts Center, biking trails, and a pretty shopping mall. Sky Ridge Medical Hospital (recent expansion fuels the high income stats and only a 2.7 unemployment rate). Population is 15,000.

Had a house in Parker and Lone Tree was just up the 470 freeway from there. Lone Tree is somewhat like Highlands Ranch......expensive! The entire area of Lone Tree is full of people who work in, or around, Denver. We don’t want to live any where near Denver! No way!

We are looking at Loveland, which is in northern Colorado as well as Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Oh I've heard that Loveland Pass has beautiful views but lacks guardrails at high altitudes! Just be careful if you go there!

We’ve been on Trail Ridge Road, in RMNP, all the way to the top (over 12,000 feet at Summit). Part of the way up, no guardrails. Just have to drive safely. I drove the entire way up.

We have lived on a quiet cul-de-sac for over 33 years where most everyone is retired. We have nice size lots (not jammed up to each other) and we look out for each other. We are happy. We have deer, rabbits and geese that visit often.

You intrigued me with the horses and buggies...I'm in Chenango county, they're becoming a part of the landscape,my cats aren't wild about them.

If you move to Colorado, take the road up to the top of Mount Evans....14,000 ft.+....but, be sure to check the weather reports first....I ran into a good snowstorm up their once in July. Also, there is a narrow back road from Golden to Central City that will test your driving skills....sheer drop offs hundreds of feet into the canyon below...I drove that "once"...never again.

Just looked online and Mount Evans is where we were at. It's also known as The Summit. Also, went on a road from a highway in Golden, that went up to Buffalo Bill Grave and Museum. Part of the way up, had to turn around and come back down. Road was narrow and we were getting scared going up and up.

Yeah, that back road up Lookout Mountain, to Buffalo Bills grave is a real hoot. The steep grades and hairpin turns will challenge a persons driving skills. I lost a couple of high school friends on that road when they went over the cliff. I like the drive to the summit of Mount Evans...but it is really scary if you meet a tour bus coming/going....there are only inches of clearance.

I am in Tompkins. Lot of folks don't like the Amish. They are rough on animals, children and the environment. I like that they are buying up all the abandoned and neglected farms and bringing them back to life. The only other option is the BTO farmers planting monoculture corn or beans, ripping up all the hedgerows.
They bring much needed diversity back to the environment!

Luckily, didn't meet anyone going up, but my wife was sure glad when we made it to the Summit. Then coming down the other side, towards Lake Granby, stopped to watch, and take photos of, a Moose Cow and her calf.

It will have taken us 10 years to figure out that Jacksonville, let alone Florida itself, just isn't for us...........even without the snow and ice. Basically, our lifestyle just doesn't fit in here. My wife really misses seeing White Tail and Mule Deer and Elk.

Well, like the Mormons, there are Amish that don't live the religious lifestyle they are known for. I've seen Amish driving cars, homes with electricity and curtains and some of them don't even dress in Amish clothes.

We live in a pleasant semi-rural small village in North East Wales, where the people are friendly.:)

Friendly people???? We are moving there! Not really, but "friendly" people is exactly what we are looking for and that's NOT here. It's more like "clickish" here than anything.

We live in the 'burbs outside of Houston. I guess we like it because it's "home". We have been in this house since 1994; it's in a good location (just close enough to stuff and yet far enough away) and our neighbors are friendly but keep to themselves. It's pleasant and comfortable here.

How can someone be friendly, yet keep to themselves? I'm friendly and definitely don't "keep to myself. Just wondering. Sounds like you couldn't live in a "small town" environment where folks know each other and talk to each other. That's the kind of environment that wife and I want.
