What Do You Love About Being A Senior?

There are several things I like. I've noticed that the older I get the less I give a fig about what others think of my opinions and actions.

One of my greatest joys is when someone looks at me odd when I go for the senior discount and a few times I've been told the age limit for a senior so I'd pull out my ID but they always refuse to look. I find that odd, confront someone but refuse to look at the evidence. Both times it's been a lady at a restaurant. That doesn't happen so much anymore though. I think my age is finally starting to catch up with me.

I like it that people no longer expect me to host the holiday meals.

I like it that my grandkids are old enough to get in cars and drive to visit me instead of vise versa.

I love being able to stay up as late as I want and being able to get up when I decide to. I've always hated schedules.

I like it that if I don't want to do something I can just say I forgot and they'll believe me. OK, that's a joke, I would never do that. Of course not. ;)

I'd much rather be thirty years younger (20 would do!), but as I'm stuck with it, one thing I do find is that I care a lot less about what people think about me.

I love the discounts of course, I love being treated with respect as the matriarch. I love it when people think I'm 15 - 20 years younger than I am. Also the wisdom I've collected over the years (and can impart) as well as the freedom the retirement brings.

I'll ditto everything, but with this caveat: every ten years I look back and wonder how I could have been so naive. I suspect the same will happen on my next 10th anniversary.
:)

I find I often actually know what I'm talking about more now than when I was younger.

I was contemplating saying something along the lines of your quote. I'm grateful for whatever wisdom I've managed to attain. I also appreciate leisure time and the pleasant experiences that are permitted by it.
