What do you need to sleep?

Some people need the lights on,some need music, What do you need to sleep? As for me, I like quiet, dark and cold. I turn the heat off at night. But I don't need a pillow or even a bed. I can sleep comfortably on the floor! (I don't. I sleep in my bed) If it's warm enough, I open the windows to let in the fresh air though.
I love a shower before bed!

At first I thought you were asking why do we sleep.

I sleep better in small rooms.

Wow. Well, I like it not too hot, nor too cold (for me). Either one will keep me awake -- either sweating or shivering in the cold. Also, I like some sound (not just laying there in the dark ... so we normally play DVDs on the big screen), although we do keep the sound somewhat down during other people's normal sleep hours.

I like a shower before bed, then I’ll read or listen to an audiobook until I get drowsy. I’ve become accustomed to a weighted blanket as well. Sleep maintenance can be a problem, so I’m usually awake in a few hours, after which time I can doze off again if I’m lucky...

Like many others, I need the room to be Dark..and cool... I also need 2 have good quality firm pillows, but I only sleep on one.. . I also only have one cover on the bed, because I'm always too hot, and I have the oscillating fan on during spring & summer..

I almost always read before I can drop off to sleep...

I'm a 'nester' with sleep issues: pillows at the head, foot, and side of the bed - for a decade, I got by on four hours a night and felt great. Then, it was broken sleep, up every couple hours and staying up for an hour or two. But, since the lockdown (probably no connection), I am sleeping far more and napping unintentionally throughout the day, courtesy of Netflix 24/7. If I don't have the media on, I have nightmares.

I'm a very light sleeper. Windows must be shut for me, otherwise any small noise from outside will wake me up. Lights should be off or at least dim.

I sleep like a baby. No pills, no milk, no nothing. Just hope into bed & I usually go out "like a light". My mind is clear as I never did anyone wrong & have worked hard all my adult life. I don't worry about dying from Cornavirus, I don't worry about money & I don't worry about politics or the economy. I don't have cable TV so my brain isn't full of loud, terrible commercials. Sometimes a song keeps going through my mind but that is because I love to sing & listen to my music in the daytime. Since I live in a small town, I can open the window at night & enjoy the fresh air. Life is pretty darn good for an "old timer" like me. LOL As Alfred C. Newman used to say in those Crazy comics, "What Me Worry?" I think Alfred C. Newman was pretty smart & he had a pretty good way of looking at life.

In order to help me sleep the room needs to be quiet and dark, preferably on the warm side. Also having a comfortable mattress and a few good pillows. Reading and herbal tea before bedtime help as well.

A few years ago, I started drinking a small sip...about a half shot...of chocolate flavored Vodka, about a hour before bedtime. That works great for me as it really relaxes me such that I fall asleep quickly, and usually get a good 7 or 8 hours before I wake up. That's about the only alcohol I consume anymore. If we're in the city, overnight at the casino, I have the drink lady bring me a small glass of red wine, and that also works good.

My husband is the same way; can sleep any time, any place.

Oh, and it's Alfred E. Newman.

I like cold and dark, and with a ceiling fan. If my feet are cold I just stick 'em on my hubby. :D
