What do you think about the foods you eat?

I now do the cooking since I'm retired. I never cooked before, nor do I find it therapeutic like some but we gotta eat. ;) I'm definitely not a Foodie.

I fix pre-packaged chopped salads every day for lunch, with cooked chicken strips on top for the protein. Avocado Ranch, Thai Chili Mango, Mediterranean, Sweet Kale, etc.

We have protein, starch and vegetables every night for dinner. We eat mostly fish and chicken. We eat red meat once a week if that. The protein is usually pre-prepared from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods but sometimes I go out on a limb and cook the fish or chicken from scratch. Salmon is a big staple. We eat lots of rice. (My partner is Filipino. :ROFLMAO:) Vegetables are typically broccoli or Brussels sprouts. I steam them fresh. I love vegetables!

I am most concerned with the Sodium content in pre-prepared foods due to high blood pressure. I take tons of supplements and drink half a bottle of Beet Juice every day for blood pressure and energy. I hate beets but actually don't mind the taste of beet juice.

I go through my phases, especially if I want to lose a few pounds. I don't eat the same foods all the time. Sometimes I'm into fruits and veggies (in that phase now) with chicken or salmon or eggs. I used to eat 3 meals a day when younger because I was very active and athletic, but now eat only 2 meals a day. Since last year, I eat a late breakfast (intermittent fasting of 14 hrs) and dinner. A snack between meals or after dinner once in awhile. My weaknesses are chocolate and ice cream. When I visit my mom in Florida, all bets are off. I always gain 5 pounds there, no matter what. She loves to cook and her meals are delicious.
I'm glad you mentioned intermittent fasting. It is supposed to be very good for you and burns fat faster. I have a massage therapist who is a health nut and he always mentions it. I eat dinner at 6pm in the evening, but I no longer have breakfast so I don't eat again until 11:30am or Noon, so I guess I'm doing it.

I can only imagine the Greek dishes your mom in Florida cooks for you! The Baklava alone will add 5 pounds. :ROFLMAO:

"Hello.....you look rather nice, (tape measure measuring) and just about the right size, you smell rather good too, slightly sweet and fruity........ in you go.......... chomp, chomp."

I practiced intermittent fasting for years and felt better for it, but haven't been able to get back to it these last years with my food restrictions.

I think as I get older food is not appealing to me. I tend to get hooked on something and eat it over and over until I can’t stand it. Then it’s on to the next food, just to eat something.

I eat plant based and it's been so many years, I don't even think about it. Just have to read some labels for unfamiliar items I've never bought.

I'm a lousy cook and I don't like to cook. I've never gone hungry even if I ate toast for dinner when I was broke. I can always scrape something together and I'm grateful not to be a picky eater. I can't be, I can't cook.

Here on the West Coast, we have a discount supermarket chain Bargain Markets. One bargain was 16 ounces of salted cachews for $6. Better, bought 4 each frozen 4 ounce keta salmon fillet packages for just $5 total. Like that each package is about my preferred small serving size. Likely put one package in my convection oven at noon tomorrow. Later tomorrow in the afternoon at the hospital, will draw out another pint of blood.

I wish I could afford a private chef.

What do you think about the foods you eat? I don't like my food talking to me while I am trying to eat. The last thing I want is a conversation with a head of lettuce.

Most everything I eat is healthy, except an occasional low-salt or no-salt helping of potato chips with meals. Before bed snacks include 2 baked cookies and tea and occasional frozen yogurt.
What do I think about the foods I eat? I enjoy the variety of foods my wife prepares, but this will change when my wife retires due to income restrictions.

Foods that I eat mostly are chicken, fish, vegetables, and dry fruits and I'm happy to eat them because they are good for my health.
