What do you think about what Will Smith did to Chris Rock?

I think you are right Pinky. I've always liked Will Smith...he's come a long way from being a rapper to being a major box office draw...a superstar. I respected that his raps were clean, not vulgar. I loved him in Independence Day which I've seen several times and other movies I've seen him in. As others have mentioned, I believe there was something else going on there. To have his accomplishments marred by his senseless act of violence, in front of millions no less, is disappointing and sad.
While i enjoyed the MIB franchise movies, Independence Day and Ali, i think my favorite movies of his were Seven Pounds and Collateral Beauty (that one may have been a Netflix original). Moving and thoughtful stories and performances.

As for Will Smith, this incident is going to follow him for the rest of his life. It will overshadow everything else he will do, or has done in his career. Karma.
Not only that but his over-reaction pushed the joke to the forefront of both regular media and social media discussions. Which could be bad by causing further discomfort for people with alopecia, but could be good by promoting awareness of the medical condition, and so help those with it feel more comfortable.

Ms. Pinkett-Smith has talked 'publicly' (on her show, and in videos) about the condition. Had her hubby not acted like that the joke would have been forgotten quickly by most people.

I loved Seven Pounds! My husband and I saw it in the movie theater and I was like WOW! at the end. I'm thinking of watching it again. It's on one of my streaming services.

I heard Michael Che say something like this--that a joke which gets a Will Smith response is coming directly from the listeners' own insecurities, except he was funny when he said it! I agree with that conclusion.

I didn’t watch it because I don’t get to see many movies and don’t dwell on celebrities. But think it’s about time foul mouthed “comedians “ or “personalities” stop making fun of any woman’s appearance and have some sort of “comeuppance” for it.
I’ve enjoyed Smith as an actor and that won’t change. Have no respect for Chris Rock “types”.

The foul-mouthed comments came from Smith, not Chris Rock.

Until new information comes out I'm done and tired of the story. That being said apparently many are worried about the upcoming Grammy Awards show in Vegas. Probably try to parlay the slap into a ratings booster and sales.

I watched a YouTube of some psychology type and he said that too, he said Will Smith's wife had an affair with another man and so Will Smith would likely be feeling that he has to prove that he's a good husband to compensate for feeling the opposite when his wife chose someone else.

Earlier in the evening of the hosts, Regina Hall, made a joke of Will and Jada’s open marriage. It was in very questionable taste!!

“In a joke, Hall noted that she needed to call up a handful of people who needed another COVID-19 test. She picked out all single men after noting that she was single earlier in the evening. She then called up Will Smith saying his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, had approved it (per YouTube). He waved his hands in an emphatic no, and the internet had thoughts.

IMO, Chris Rock’s joke didn’t even compare as tasteless.
