What do you think is the purpose of your life

I do not know how many others enjoy questions like this but I surely do. Some of my friends/acquaintances would they don't have the time or interest to think about it. I have read books exploring this question and find the answers all interesting. I recently read The Purpose Driven Life but preferred books like Man's Search for Meaning. For me the purpose is to discover what was/is meant by phrases like Know Thyself...
I would very much like to hear what those interested have to say. TY in advance 🙂

I love this kind of thing too, so long as it doesn't lead to ridicule. I suppose now that we are older we can look back over our lives and see a pattern or some reason for our existence.
I feel I've been 'slumming it' all my life. That's an English expression meaning spending time with people on a lower level. Earth's energy is very coarse and many of us have graduated to being on a higher level, but choose to come to Earth for various reasons.

MY life as opposed to life in general?

I felt my life was meant to help others while earning a good living for myself and enjoying every moment to the max.

The meaning of life period? I don't know. I'm still learning. This year the meaning of my life is just to survive.

TY Rosemarie! So happy to hear you like this topic too.
I say ignore any who ridicule..it's their problem if they need to be nasty. Of course, my tendency would be to answer but of course in a respectful manner as I can 🤔
Sounds like you have read some material as I have..do you have any books you would recommend

TY Chic..Either personal or in general is interesting...It has been a tough year for so many. I hope the future will bring more blessings for everyone!

This is something I often question but then again I look for the deepest meaning in why a fly 🪰 landed on me a certain way. (kidding .... sort of 😂)

I’ve probably read over a hundred books on the topic and most books state that after self care, serving mankind somehow , from our God given gifts and talents , is what we are meant to do, meaning whatever one is passionate about.

I feel that my life purpose is to love & forgive myself while caring for my family. In my spare time I paint and give away my art and entertain at nursing homes by singing and playing my saxophone(s).

Mind you, my ego’s need for self importance sometimes leads me astray which is why journaling has become my best tool to keep me on track.

LOL Keesha...
Thank you for entertaining at nursing homes. My husband was in one for 9 months and the volunteers made so many of the lives richer. You are to be commended for selflessness.
Our egos can certainly get us in trouble if we are not careful, can't they...I have always thought journaling interesting but have never tried except for brief periods of keeping a diary when I was much younger.

I believe we start life imperfect. And our purpose is to grow (inside) to be more perfect. Evidence of our growth is serving others, taking care of our planet, and many other signs of evidence. We will never reach 100%perfection because that is reserved for our creator, but we can grow closer. So we don't have to feel like a failure when we don't reach 100%. When we stop growing, we die physically (and possibly spiritually as well if that is one's choice).

So there are no regrets (if you have grown from your experiences) because everything in our life (from birth until now) that has been bad behavior or suffering or wrongs, etc has been all for the purpose of our growth. All has been a test to see if we use it for growth. Once we stop growing, like I said, our purpose is over, and we die.

The way to becoming more perfect like our creator is through Love. You have probably heard me say this before but life is all about Love of ourselves, love for others, and love of our creator. That should be our main focus, our common denominator for all choices we make in life.

For those who die young it's because they've reached their level of perfection so our creator takes them out of a world that will not serve them well beyond and so brings them to a safe place with the him. The evil one can no longer do his dirty work in their lives.

We can't judge when that level of perfection has been reached because we can't see inside the person...only our creator can. Even for a murderer in a cell. We can't see whats happening (inside him) but we can trust that he/she is still growing if he/she's still alive.

Most here know I'm a Christian but I've tried my best to explain this without sounding "religious". Thank you for reading to the end.

One thing about 'ridicule'--------it can't be having a different opinion, can it? People are very sensitive and self righteous it seems. Sometimes.
I do not consider a different opinion in itself as being ridicule..IMO it depends on how the disagreement is delivered. True enough that unfortunately some people are overly sensitive and at times assume the worst ..

I am an Agnostic. People can try to tell you what it is like to skydive or what durian tastes like but until you do it you will never know. Either you have the patience to find out when the time comes or you can punch your own ticket to find out now. I'm enjoying life too much ... I can wait to see what's next. And then I'll know.

Lol ... thank you. I think I get just as much enjoyment as they do. I haven’t done it in over a year but this summer I’ll be back to doing it again in completely different areas. In fact I’m mapping out all the homes I’m planning on entertaining at.

Journaling is similar to diary writing in that it helps keep you aware of yourself and gives you a safe place to express yourself. When I journal, I separate my daily writing into categories. 1/. Spirit first / staying on track with purpose
2/. Diet and exercise - self explained 3/. Home - house chores etc Relationships - keeping in harmony with the important people in my life.

And YES our egos get us into trouble or at least mine does. My ego self is constantly comparing myself with others, constantly judging and critiquing myself and others which gets me stuck in stuff that doesn’t matter; most of which is a complete waste of time. Sometimes I with I could lose my ego completely but from what I’ve read, it’s needed for healthy self esteem but I’m don’t know. 🤷‍♀️What do you think?

What do you think is our life purpose?
From what I’ve read, each persons life’s purpose is uniquely different which isn’t surprising since we are uniquely different in every other way except the fact that we are all human beings.

The more I read and learn about past lives the more I see the justice in having them but I have to say I really am not happy about having to return to earth over and over...I want to go to a DIFFERENT DIMENSION

The way to becoming more perfect like our creator is through Love. You have probably heard me say this before but life is all about Love of ourselves, love for others, and love of our creator. That should be our main focus, our common denominator for all choices we make in life.
I agree and would add forgiveness but I guess if you love you automatically forgive...

I have also read they came to help those who knew them grow in their own journey

I so agree..again!:D

I view myself as a Christian too but I also see the same principles in so many other religions. I also believe that for some to be and sound religious is what benefits them on their journey and I respect that. We are all on a journey IMO and there are different paths that lead to the same place

I had to edit "our past life" to just "our life from birth until now" because I don't want to confuse anyone to think I mean "past lives". I don't believe in past lives
