What do you think of my cable TV bill?

I've never had cable when living alone. Now only have cell plus $25.00/mo unlimited hotspot usage.

Scannable. Fax machines are almost obsolete now
I think your wrong. Besides, I only have use for my fax for 1 more year. I really don’t want to buy anymore software or hardware.

I use an internet fax on my laptop, but I still prefer my old all-in-one.

Not really sure what you mean , 911. If you mean are there any redundant channels, the answer is no... although we do have a few repeats on several channels.. Ch4 ..ch4 +1 .. TLC..TLC+1 etc...
So, in those 600+ channels, no 2 channels have the same show on at the same time? That’s amazing.

I have over 300 channels. This includes 3 channels of ABC, 2 channels of CBS, 2 channels of NBC and 2 channels of FOX. Between 8-11:00 p.m., what’s on 1 of the ABC networks is also on the other 2. Same for CBS & FOX. That’s at least 9 of my channels showing the same show at the same time. Oh, I also have 2 channels of the BBC, which also have the same show on at the same time. The only thing that shakes this up is on Sundays when football is on, then CBS and FOX May have different games on at the same time.

I know ... :(...here's an example of the difference.

Today I went to the dentist suffering from toothache ( the dentist is not free here like the doctors) .. she looked and said she couldn't find the reason that I'm suffering so much with that tooth, so she took an X-ray, and she felt that my gum was eroding and possibly a nerve was causing the pain.
She was very complimentary about the good condition of my teeth with almost entirely no plaque at all, but felt the only thing she could do was to apply 2 coats of resin bonding. ..so to ensure the area was super clean , she did a full hygiene clean, which meant numbing the area with 2 injections beforehand .

I was in the chair for an hour and a quarter, ..the dentist and the dental nurse full attention from both at all times .. the X-ray.. the injections.. the thorough clean..the 2 layer of resin bonding .. and because I was shaking so much ( I hate dentists) they gave me a glucose drink as well..

Cost?.. the grand total of £22.40 !!

How much does the typical dentist and hygienist earn a year? At those prices, he/she can’t be earning as much as an American dentist, which is one of the reasons why we have a lot of foreign people in the medical profession in this country.

As for scripts, I have read that Americans pay at least 65% of the costs associated with the R&D of new meds. I think someone got the notion that all Americans are rich and can afford whatever the prices of whatever it is that we need or buy. Truth of the matter is that we have people dying in this country because they couldn’t afford to buy their meds.

I got an ambulance call to a home where a woman was having a severe asthma attack. (Some communities require police and/or fire dept. to respond with an ambulance.) As I waited for the EMT to finish his work on the woman, I spoke with her daughter. While talking to her, the issue of her drugs came up and her daughter told me that she ran out of the medicine for her nebulizer. Out of curiosity, I asked how that happened and she told me that they didn’t have the money to buy it. As we finished up, I heard the EMT tell the daughter that she was close to expiring. She was transported to the hospital.

We do almost the same thing as @Pappy does. We had Comcast for a long time, and then switched to DirecTV when Sam’s Club was running a big promotion. As soon as we had used up that contract, we stopped DirecTV , and put up a small antenna outside, which we use for local stations.
We can get Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix on our television with streaming, but mostly we just watch anything on our iPads instead of using the television.
So all we pay for besides internet is the monthly subscriptions for Amazon and Netflix.
Because we are low income, our internet through AT&T is only $12 a month, and Amazon Prime is about $7 per month, so we can do everything for under $50 a month.

Sounds like the bundle I used to have and refuse to pay any longer. Now I use streaming tv which A T and T taught me to do. I use Philo and CBS apps for tv at about 23.00 a month for tv. I also have a landline and internet that costs me 58.00 a month.

I don't know much about fiber optics but it just came to my area in the mountains last week. I haven't hooked up with it yet as I have a lot of questions to ask them first. Right now I pay $68 a month for landline phone, $69 for satellite TV and $68 a month for wifi through satellite.

According to the ads I'm seeing I can save quite a bit and get better service if I switch over to fiber optics with Frontier. I haven't made any calls for information yet but it's on my to do list this week. They claim the phone will work great and won't go out if we lose power, which we do fairly often up here.

Does anyone else here have fiber optics and what do you think of it?

Yes we have fibre Optics Linda... it's very much faster than the previous system...

Are you also paying AT&T for a phone ??

One of the options is to get over 200 channels. That sounds great. It costs an arm and two legs. There are about 70 channels, like TNT, CNN, Nat. G etc.; then the same 70 channels in "High Definition". There are some real dog channels-like high school and community college channels that are actually on about one hour a week , if that. Well, of course, I'm saving the best for last-the Polka music channel.

Our local electric Co-Op installed Fiber Optics about 2 years ago, and we switched TV/Landline/and Internet over to them shortly after it became available. It is Great! The TV(200+channels) and Phone are both crystal clear, and I have 100MB internet...all for a bundled price of about $145/month. We have to keep the landline because cell phone service is not good out here in the boondocks....so I just pay $7/mo. for a basic TracFone for when we are away from the house. Fiber Optics is FAR better than cable or satellite....IMO.

$73 a month for Dish cable wth remote voice, on-demand shows, free movies and hundreds of channels...which my oldest son pays for...my internet with Xfinity is $64 a month, and my other son pays for IPhone service....landline gone for years....
Moral of the "best cable deals"...have two nice generous sons, huh, Pops!

That is a deal. I have noticed that Comcast charges different prices in different locations. And, since you mentioned Netflix, I have that also, but to me, it’s not worth what they charge. Every movie that I want to watch is either not on Netflix or I get Buy or Rent. What’s with that?

Then, to make matters worse, Comcast advertises that for new subscribers they can get what’s called a Triple Play Package for like $100.00 a month with a 2-year contract. If they can do that for new subscribers, they should be doing it for their loyal subscribers who have been with them since forever.

What they don't tell you is that your introductory rate will triple in 2 years and you'll have a heart attack when you see the bill. I have Comcast bundle and hate them. There is Verizon, but they are just as expensive so there's really no option at all.

I was with Time Warner/Spectrum for 10 years. Jacked up my rate from $138 to $210. Called to cancel.....would only come down to $185. ATT was $135. Went with them. For 2 years. A week after I cancelled Time Warner called and mailed me weekly saying we would have matched them. I said well why didn’t you!!!!
Then after my 2 years, ATT jacked up my rate to $225, threatened to cancel said could only drop the price to $189 even though a new customer would be $140! I cancelled and went with Dish for 2 years For $118. Ugh, slow internet and bad signal if it rained! Just now went back to Spectrum.

Its a stupid game!!!!!!!!! I’m sure in 12 months I’ll threaten again.

I simply will NOT pay for TV, who needs (or watches) 600 channels, anyway? I have antenna TV and still think I watch too much TV. I pay $25 for a Verizon landline and about $59 for DSL internet from Century Link, which is slow and not available too many times during the day. I'm thinking of switching to TRIAD which is a lot cheaper, need to research if it's true.
