What do you think of pre-pay gas stations?

What annoys me is after filling up the car I push the button for a receipt and nothing comes out. So I have to go into the gas station anyway and stand in line to get my receipt. A small thing I know, but it's still irritating.

ive not used one.....but i just fill up until its full...then go inside to pay .....
 

We've had this for as long as I can remember, pay either with a debit card or credit card. Though I try so hard to pay for everything in cash. There's only one station around here, you have to go in the station, pay the cash, pump, and if less then go in and get your change. But every other station goes by the trust. The amount of drive away and don't pay is probably like 1 out of a thousand here, Besides, the millions they make, give me a break. The reason I pay by cash when I can is because of the threat of Digital money, and I am so against that. We all need to try to use more cash, but that's another story...

Yup
Quite easy
I do squeeze the pump to get it exactly on the dollar
I'm OCD that way

I have seen the prepay option for those with cash only
You have to go in and lay down what you think your tank will take
or $20 or.....
If you prepay too much, you gotta go back in to get the change
Quite the pain, but beats running out of fuel

Yeah, that's why I carry a note pad
Write down the amount
compare online acct trans
If all OK, toss the note or recpt

If you carry a smart phone, just take a photo of the finished transaction on the pump. Have you ever had an issue with the monthly invoice and had to fight it with the CC company. Also, as soon as I use my CC I get a text notification that a purchase was made.
 
I use prepay gas station once weekly, their gas in cheaper...

I think they are ok, but I prefer not having to walk in to pay first..
 
Here the pumps won't work unless you either pre pay or use a credit card at the pump.

Not a few times I've used a supposedly ok pump with a card where the LCD display repeatedly stated some card issue. I then move to another pump that always works that I expect that is a game those in gas food marts play to get people to come inside and possible buy something. Once they see a customer move to another pump, they realize that game is over as I otherwise always drive off to show them what I think of that common trick.

That's a good idea if you use a CC. I normally use my debit card though, and if I don't get a paper receipt I will totally forget to deduct it from my checkbook! Sometimes I think I'm losing what little is left of my mind. :rolleyes:
