What do you think of TV Infomercials ? Ever buy anything?

I watch too much TV. I admit that. I try to avoid commercials but some of those "infomercials" are pretty funny, especially the older ones.

Who remembers :

the Slap Shot guy? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUbWjIKxrrs
Billy Mays?
The group of guests watching the Magic Bullet demo in somebody's kitchen?
Anything Ronco?

BUT WAIT !
Have you bought anything? If so, what was it and how did it work out?

I've been tempted but haven't bought from the TV yet. I did see a ceramic non-stick fry pan in the "As Seen On TV" section of my pharmacy for $10.00. I bought it and it's nice.

I hate TV infomercials, they're very annoying, that's all you see on the weekends. If I see one more No No hair remover commercial with women lasering hair off their entire faces, and men removing hair from their arms and legs, I'll scream LOL! :p

When I was young, I bought the Ab Roller, the EZ Crunch and the Turbo Jam exercise CDs. The equipment ended up in the trash, useless. Still have the Turbo Jam, pretty good workout when you're in the mood.

I also bought the Mouli years back, it was the cheap small slicer with a handle that turned for slicing onions, tomatoes, etc. That took up space in my kitchen closet for years, actually just threw it out last week, useless. Don't want to be a hoarder, don't have the room. :playful:

Another trash item which is still lying in the garage waiting for one of us to accidently break them, and two glass bulbs with the long stems, made to water your plants when you're away from home. Nice idea if they worked, but they didn't.

Most recent item I bought is the hose that shrinks up when you stop using it and won't kink. I like that, but that particular one is made really cheaply. It only gets gentle use in my front yard, and I love the fact that it doesn't kink on me, that I can put it in a tiny flower pot when I'm not using it, and it's so light weight. Another keeper. They sell more heavy duty ones now in the Big Box stores.

I've seen those non-stick ceramic fry pans and liked them, saw one in person at Bed Bath and Beyond, but they were a little too small for me, wanted something bigger.

SeaBreeze,
Yes pretty much junk and annoying for sure. The Mouli grater has been around for many, many years. We used it for grating hard parmesan cheese when I was a child; haven't seen one in a very long time. I wondered how those glass watering bulbs worked, now I know, LOL.

I wait for them to be advertised...and then 6 months later to be bought at a local garage sale near you..

I rarely ever watch commercials but if I do catch and infomercial that looks as though it might be an interesting item, I google for buyer reviews, and almost always the vast majority of reviews say the item is useless. ..so as of yet I've never spent any money on anything. Thanks review sites you are very helpful. :D

Infomercials are one of the things I love to hate, and they give me plenty of ideas for parodies.

Mt roomie bought one of those Brooklyn Lanterns and it gives off a decent amount of light, but it arrived with the glass chimney cracked and a large piece of it sitting on the floor of the box. I'd think an emergency lantern would have a plastic chimney ...

Ronco ... I bought the Ron Popeil Pocket Fisherman many moons ago, used it once and gave up - it worked okay but just didn't feel right.

Some hilarious stuff here ...

I bought a chopper thingy-clear plastic "dish" with a grid on top and a hinged top that you press down and chop onions or whatever. I can do it faster with a knife and don`t have three pieces of "equipment" to wash. However,I gave my dd one-they had sent me two for some reason-and she and her bff make salsa nearly every weekend. Her bff always did all the tomato chopping and one day dd pulled out the gadget and told her to try it. She was amazed-it cut her tomato chopping time to almost nothing. So I think I`ll give her my other one to take home.

I also bought "MY Pillow", which I'm still using. It's a weird pillow, you have to keep turning it because your head sinks in and the sides puff up around your ears, so you have to keep working the foam fill pieces...but my neck was hurting from the memory foam I was using, and now things are better. Not the best pillow, but good for now.

A little "offbeat" and suggestive, but here a short clip of the Southpark episode showing the shake weight TV commercial.
