What do you think were the "history making moments" of your life?

Well, if you are a "Senior" , you've seen 50-60-70+ years of World history. What do you think were the "history making moments" during your life? What do you think future generations will be taught in school about this period in history?

Moon landing, Viet Nam war, altho' I'm not sure that will be dealt with in much details in schools; organ transplants, Mars explorations, International Space Station, the Internet, DNA manipulations.... comes to mind right now.

The Queen's coronation, President kennedy's assassination, the moon landing...those are the things which stick in my mind. There are lesser events which have had an effect on British life....such as Idi Amin and President Mugabe doing a bit of housework and kicking out the people they regarded as undesirable aliens. Their actions have had a negative effect on their countries though, and also the countries those people fled to....and may be partly to blame for the influx of migrants now coming into Europe. It demonstrates how the actions of one man can have far-reaching consequences.

Korean War,President Kennedy's assignation ,Moon landing, Viet Nam war, Health care costs and medicine without any cures anymore and Internet, and Paying to watch tv,so many commercials on tv and the internet.

The history making events in history would be my own personal history as they have effected me more than anything. So, I won't go into the boring details for everyone but can say they helped make me what I am.

The Beatles. They unified the youth of the world which led to great societal changes. And all the other stuff mentioned, of course.

World War II, (I was born at the end of it). It changed the world. We found out that monsters are real and the depravity of the human race is unlimited.

For me WWII stands head and shoulders above any other "event" just in size, scope, loss of life, and the use of a nuclear weapon to end at least one stage. I was 13 when the war ended so most of my formative years were during the war. Almost all of my older cousins and a few uncles were in the service. My dad was in France during WWI so he was too old for II. I hope and pray that we never see a world catastrophe such a that again.

Radio Caroline returning in the early seventies as an album station.Introduced me to lots of music I couldn't here elsewhere.

Most of what has been noted

My sister and I watched Ruby do in Oswald right on TV
I think it mighta been live (somebody help me)

But a couple with more direct affect come to mind

The Columbus Day storm in ‘62

My first hurricane
Couldn’t get up the hill for the trees
My first time in a bar
I was 12

It was at the bottom of Logie trail road on US 30, and Rainbow Lake (where I fished) was right behind it
My mom and I sat thru that storm right there
Those gusts were amazing

Like an idiot, I stood there looking out the window
‘Course nobody knew it’d be such a big blow

I remember seeing our ’56 Buick quivering from side to side duting the big gusts

The road home was a mess
Live power lines popping, jumping all over
Huge fir trees layin’ everwhere
Neighbors pitched in with chainsaws to clear the road

Lost a few trees at our place
We were without power for three weeks

Had to draw water from a spring up the road

I remember roofless houses as we drove thru St Johns a few days after

Heh, lost half our walnut orchard
Didn’t break my heart none
Guess who was the harvester?

The other event was When Helen blew in ‘80

I was delivering a crawler to a logging site at the top of a hill in Humptulips Wa when she blew
Thought someone was blasting stumps on an adjacent hill

Then the ash

For days, weeks

Almost forgot about these things

Thanks for the memory jog, Fuzzy
