What does the red notification dot on my Facebook page mean?

Every single time I go to Facebook, there's a little blue house and it has a red dot on it. So like a good boy, I press it. The page refreshes and the dot goes away. But nothing new appears in my newsfeed.

So what's the point of it?

It means that you have either a new message, match or someone changed their profile (in that case the red dot will be on the feed section)
To Fix
Tap Settings & Privacy, then tap Settings. Tap Notifications below Preferences. Tap to adjust how you get notifications and what you get notified about

These dots can alert us that someone followed us on Facebook, that a friend request we sent was accepted, that someone sent us a friend request, that a friend of ours is posting a live video, and a variety of other things....click on it and see!

I have the same problem. It started about a week ago and now I get the Start-page (blue house) notification every minute or so.

I can press it, but it just refreshes the feed and nothing new content is presented. Just old content in a new order.

It’s not related to friend request, other profiles, live videos or anything else. It’s also not related to the normal notifications as I already receive these in “Notifications”.

Any help is much appreciated.

It appears during an account being locked if you have as a tech tried to fix a client's facebook account. It appeared after doing the ID verification [now waiting for FB to approve - 48 hours]. The dot remains and you can remove the client's facebook account as well from the computer. You can click on the X on the client's FB login but it comes back until the account is cleared with FB. Just saw this today - I assume it is a FB security feature. I will edit this if I found out more that needs to be added. I tried to add a pic of the one I have but I was not able to
