Every single time I go to Facebook, there's a little blue house and it has a red dot on it. So like a good boy, I press it. The page refreshes and the dot goes away. But nothing new appears in my newsfeed.
It means that you have either a new message, match or someone changed their profile (in that case the red dot will be on the feed section) To Fix
Tap Settings & Privacy, then tap Settings. Tap Notifications below Preferences. Tap to adjust how you get notifications and what you get notified about
If someone other than you has a Facebook account on your device, that red dot means you're on your account and you can switch to the other account(s) by clicking on it.
edit: I could be wrong. The red dot I'm thinking of would be on your icon, not that little house.
These dots can alert us that someone followed us on Facebook, that a friend request we sent was accepted, that someone sent us a friend request, that a friend of ours is posting a live video, and a variety of other things....click on it and see!
I have the same problem. It started about a week ago and now I get the Start-page (blue house) notification every minute or so.
I can press it, but it just refreshes the feed and nothing new content is presented. Just old content in a new order.
It’s not related to friend request, other profiles, live videos or anything else. It’s also not related to the normal notifications as I already receive these in “Notifications”.
It appears during an account being locked if you have as a tech tried to fix a client's facebook account. It appeared after doing the ID verification [now waiting for FB to approve - 48 hours]. The dot remains and you can remove the client's facebook account as well from the computer. You can click on the X on the client's FB login but it comes back until the account is cleared with FB. Just saw this today - I assume it is a FB security feature. I will edit this if I found out more that needs to be added. I tried to add a pic of the one I have but I was not able to
