What does the world need?

I was just thinking about this last night when I was in bed. I was meditating/visualizing/praying that a gigantic rock would come at very high speed from outer space, impact the earth and there would be a big explosion destroying earth like a big atomic bomb. Mankind would cease to exist in an instant, and everything would be done with and over.
 
I think one of the many things the world needs is a better understanding of one another's cultures. My travels have given me more empathy for other human beings that may live differently or have different beliefs than I do. When you get to know what makes other people "tick" you become understanding. I still have a long way to go, but I always try to keep an open mind.
 
I don't know all the answers in life, but the world could be helped if people began to respect one another again like they did back when I was a kid. I don't want to be an old timer or sound like someone stuck in the past, but when we were young people didn't shoot and kill each other or censor each other permanently over a difference of opinion. It was a better way. Respect is key to positive evolution.
 
I think the world needs a good philosophy that parents can adopt and teach their children. I agree with Thomas Jefferson who said the teachings of Jesus Christ are the most sublime and benevolent code of morals ever offered to man. Unfortunately most churches in the United States don’t teach these teachings, and when you point this out, many church members become incredulous, hostile or hysterical because they have been under the impression their church does teach the Gospels of Christ. It's an interesting phenomenon.

Interesting. I had the same wish when I returned from a week in the hospital damaged from a fall and couldn’t walk and the hospital didn’t do anything for my injuries. But, I had to meet all the demands of society right on time in order to maintain basic services to my house and food in my refrigerator. The doctors and hospital made a fortune off of my week there but I got nothing in return.
 
The world has gotten lots better than it was. There are still many challenges ahead, but there are a lot more healthy educated fed people than there used to be, so maybe the future will continue to improve.

Very enlightening. Thanks for sharing. We often only look back at the positives when we think about how things used to be.
