What food have you never eaten but would really like to try?

I've never tried Sushi--not sure if I want to try it, sounds ewww...

I've never tried head cheese, or tongue, or many other strange organ meats...not sure if I want to try them either but maybe a little nibble:LOL::unsure:

There are many things I've never tried and some I'm willing to test and a lot more..no;)

I just remarked to someone last week, that I don't understand why people are afraid to try sushi when they eat other smelly fish like sardines. The Scandinavians eat some very smelly fish .. much worse than sushi. I don't eat raw fish, but the sushi fish is apparently not "fishy". If you feel experimental, try vegetarian sushi - California roll.

I love sushi....

No but I'm sure they're basically the same. Does White Castle have fries?

Yes and they're good.

Gooseberries. I feel fortunate to have had opportunities to try many different foods but although I've heard about gooseberries, gooseberry jam, even gooseberry wine, I've never tasted them.

We had gooseberry bushes when I was growing up, and my mother made gooseberry jam, gooseberry pies and my dad loved making wine out of anything he could get his hands on (the gooseberry wine was a flop, though). It's an acquired taste, gooseberries, and I never acquired it.....

Marcie, when we lived in Maine we cooked lobster only when we had visitors who asked for it. We can get good live lobsters here for around $6/lb but, personally, I don't find them particularly exciting. I used to prefer Alaskan king crab legs, split and lightly broiled with herb butter, but at over $30/lb these days they've become absurdly expensive.

The summer we spent in Maine, the lobsters had come in early and plentiful....very plentiful. We could go to a "Lobster Pound" and get a steamed lobster for as low as $2 and eat it at a picnic table outside. Lobster chowder, lobster rolls, lobster, lobster, lobster everything. I ate so much lobster that summer, it's a wonder I didn't turn red and grow claws. Lobster from somewhere like Red Lobster is terrible, but a Maine lobster fresh off the boat and fresh out of the pot? Manna from heaven, at least to me.

I've had goat meat. It's fine if it's heavily spiced but otherwise I find it a bit "gamey".

I've had horse meat. I would have probably thought it was hamburger if I hadn't been told what it was first. I can't see repeating that adventure, though.

I ate bear meat. Thought it was veal.

Squirrel's good. Rabbit is very good. I've never eaten possum, but my dad said it was OK if you prepared it correctly. Yuck. Possum.

Had turtle once in the Bahamas. Don't see the attraction. I've had rattlesnake. Pass. I've had fried earthworms. Pass. Roasted grubs, pretty good, tasted like pork fat.

Haven't experimented as much as @jujube with food, but have had rabbit in a French restaurant. I found it a bit tough. Maybe if I didn't know it was rabbit, I would have liked it more.

Goat curry is delicious. Jamaican friends served it at a party one time. It has to be cooked for a long time to make it tender.

It was funny when we were at the French restaurant with another couple. My husband and friend's wife thought they were eating mushrooms, but when they found out it was rabbit organs, they stopped eating completely :ROFLMAO:

I get a big kick out of the pretentious restaurants that come up with the most ridiculous concoctions. A couple of years ago, I had to laugh at the "coffee-encrusted rabbit liver tacos" that were on the menu of a restaurant in Asheville. I mean...what the heck?

I was given rabbit by a neighbor who raised them. I didn't care for it, but it might have been due to the mustrdy sauce they cooked it with.

Ate moose without knowing it. Thought it was pot roast. I would enjoy it again if it was available; very good.

I stop at vermin, insects and usually offal, except for pate'.

@jujube I applaud your open mind and your broad palate! (y)

I've never had Scotch eggs but would love to try them but I'm sure the only way I'll ever get them is by making them myself most likely for a crowd. I also would like to try elderberries. Never even seen one. How about Scotch eggs followed by elderberry tart? No?

I am a vegetarian since age 42, but when I was a carnivore the only "exotic'' meat I ate was rabbit. I really don't see what anybody can possibly like eating of a turtle or tortoise, it all looks disgusting.

I loathe smelly fish and don't eat sardines at all or any other smelly fish. I'm generally not a fish eater but will have tuna with some mayo in it once in awhile preferring Albacore. Never tried the California roll but would try it since it's not fish. I still may try Sushi one day when I get the opportunity...I just never get out and have never been to a place that serves Sushi. And I don't trust the grocery stores to have any that's good.

I would also love to try a real French cassoulet, made from scratch. It's a white bean casserole from what I've heard with various meats and sausage in it. Real peasant fare which is most often the best imho.

Live long enough trying these happens. Calf brains in an omelette, fresh caught octopus, sea turtle steak, lagosta, lobster, mako shark steak, king crab legs, every cut of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, & goat. Most while living in Puerto Rico
Where we live now there are restaurants from around the world so we experiment with a variety of cuisines.

Think I might order frogs legs since that is something we haven't eaten. Meanwhile today is our 58th. wedding anniversary so 4 1&1/2 inch prime filet & 4 lb live lobster flown in from Maine will do.

MarciKS...I'd rather have crab meat than lobster any day. A few years ago, we attended an anniversary party for my brother in law and his wife. All the lobster you could eat at the Showboat casino buffet. I took a lobster tail and that was it. Sought out other seafood after that. I can't think of anything...maybe a truffle like Rose. I've heard people rave about them.

I'm a very odd person. I have a bunch of quirks a mile long. Quirk #10, 863 is that I will only eat foods I've eaten before. I am defifintely not one of those people, who can put anything edible in my mouth. Quirk #10,864 is that I can't eat anything that looks "gross". Quirk #10,865 is that I can't eat anything with eyes. Quirk #10,866 is that I don't like to touch "wet" foods. So you see, by the time I get into the 20,000 series of my quirks, there aren't any foods left that I'd like to try. If you think those quirks are bad, wait till I tell you about the 30,000 series.
