It was the volunteer work I did...free home repairs for folks who could not afford to get them done.
It gave me Purpose. And I met so many genuinely nice folks who I never would have otherwise crossed paths with. It made me part of this community. Did it for 7 years, as a worker and treasurer/business guy. I worked in over 3 dozen homes. Then we ran out of money & volunteers.
Been [unsuccessfully] looking for a replacement.
Right now it's the community work we do through church, but that's not nearly as often (or as hands-on) as the home repair stuff I had done.
