What happened to those buy-in-bulk stores from the 80s/90s?

I think they are still there. Those buy "a 50 pound bag of Kleenex" stores. I haven't been there in decades. There's none around me, so the savings are lost in gas, and time getting there and back. Anybody still go to them?

I buy for one person so the COSTCO type stores don't make sense for me.

I can watch the sales, coupons, etc... and find good deals on reasonable quantities of things without a membership.

Yes,they are still around and going strong. We don`t have one close by either-it`s an hour and a half drive over the mountain,so I let our membership lapse. But they just broke ground for a Costco 30 minutes away-where we go all the time anyway-so I`ll rejoin when they open. Because we do foster care,we don`t really have the room to store vast amounts of T.P,paper towels etc.,etc. (all the stuff they sell in bulk) but there are other things that would be more cost effective for us to buy when we`re feeding 5 or 6 of us.

I don't have a membership to Costco or Sams anymore. I live alone so not worth it. My daughter has one so when I visit her I will buy the Kirkland coffee and the paper towels in bulk but that's about it.

I shop Trader Joe's and Safeway for everything else. Safeway is called Vons in Fresno but it's the same store. I buy their sale items and I also have the just 4 you app for additional coupons.

I have a Costco membership....I have to drive about an hour to get there, but I take the day and shop other places and have my car 'super duper cleaned' so it is a day out for me.

Bulk sizes don't work for me either, just me and my grandson with very limit storage, no basement, etc.

But I had a one year membership as a gift last year so it was fun going there. I did pick up on some good deals.

You can buy in bulk online at Amazon, Walmart or Target to name a few, free shipping if you spend a certain amount. It would be worth it if you want to buy in bulk and it comes to the house.

I did my Christmas shopping at Costco a couple years in a row. Bargains on a lot of different kinds of things, so it was worth the membership fee.

Costco hearing aid batteries: 48 for $8.49. Same battery at CVS: 6 for $5.99. Just buying batteries a couple of times a year more than pays for the membership. I usually also pick up several other items. And when I shopped at there Kona store, gas was at least 50 cents a gallon less. It works for me.

I live alone but visit Costco about once a month. I mostly use it for nonperishables such as TP, and certain food items, such as their Kirkland coffee and their grapefruit, which is usually very good. And salmon, which I cut into individual portions and put in the freezer. Occasionally steak also; their steak is very good.

My sister has me on her Sam's card but I seldom go as its just me. However I have their credit card and earned $14.08 cash back rewards. Got a check today that can only be spent at Sams so I will go before it expires in December!

My daughter has a Sam’s Club membership and we share that with her. We go about once a month, fill up the car with cheaper gas, and buy things like coffee, almonds (for my almond milk) and other things that we can save money on from Sam’s. Sometimes, we get there fresh fruit because it seems to be a much better quality than the grocery store has.
Otherwise , I just watch for sales and closeouts at the regular grocery store. Kroger has online coupons that I can add into my account, and they are automatically taken off when I buy the item.
I hate printing and clipping coupons, and I forget to take them with me to the store; but the e-coupons are perfect. I just add on everything that I think that I might possibly buy, and then if I do buy it, I get the discount.
What is the just 4 you app, CeeCee ? Is it for coupons or do you have to print them out ?

Sam's every 3 months or so..TP and frozen lunches, their meats are better than the chain stores..Divide the meat into meals for 3 and freeze..

You don't have to print anything out....it's an e coupon. Probably very similar to what you have with Kroger.

Sam's computers watch what you buy, send out a booklet of savings on what you buy. Discounted at the register if you buy some of those items..
