Personally I prefer to declutter in big chunks. So even when working I would work all day on the weekends to get it done. I also cleaned out a few homes for others this way and had big sales to get rid of the stuff.
I think this sort of thing is better than nothing.I need a will, period. There always seems to be something more pressing time and $$ wise
If it helps, I was in the same boat with a large oak coffee & end table damaged with water staining. Let it sit for a couple of years but tackled it late last summer. Here's what mine looked like and here is the finish I used. Mine was oak and yours is pine but the theory is the same.I'm refinishing a huge pine dining table that seats 8. It has a beautiful grain and I'm almost finished sanding it. But I've got a block with the next step. A clear finish brings out a yellow in it...which I don't want. Stain color choices are just not floating my boat. I like the natural look it has now.
I also need a finish what will protect from the moisture that periodically comes from "my" ocean or Florida's. My renters last year ruined my other mahogany table by placing wet glasses on it and hot things without using the coasters provided leaving white spots. Usually fixable but I waited too long.
To finish I'm thinking Polyurethane...maybe 2 coats...semi gloss?
My "putting off" can best be attributed to FEAR rather than laziness. I just don't want to mess up and I'm out of time for making any mistakes as rental season is in 6 days.

That is great advice and I did start yesterday with a box of old stuff I have. The only problem is in that box of stuff I ran into this Life Magazine special I forgot I had and spent the next two hours browsing through it...lol.when you think about going through everything to throw or donate... it's too much , so you don't do it....
..so.. instead just do one drawer, or one side of a closet... and deal with another drawer another day...
That's how I started doing mine especially when I was working full time, because I just didn't have much time to clear stuff out, and so I kept putting it off, because it was just too much all at once to do...

You could take a screenshot of the insurance document and keep it on your phone to show, if you get pulled over again.Instead we have to do their work for them and buy a computer printer for their convenience.
Oh, Nathan. You might want to ask @hollydolly why I can't do that,You could take a screenshot of the insurance document and keep it on your phone to show, if you get pulled over again.
Can you talk about funeral plans with your kids. You could provide them with the details, music, casket, etc. I'm almost certain any funeral director could advise on the process for organ donation. Also, if you pick your funeral home, you can do a prepaid plan, and review all details beforehand, as you know. If you do that, you can give all your requests and detail of your wishes to the funeral director.I'm usually on the ball most of the time. When my husband passed away his funeral was straight forward, everything went according to plan. Now I'm getting concerned because I want to have a prepaid funeral, very simple and a private affair. I've made out my Will, but I need to let my boys know of my wishes concerning my funeral. I'm an Organ donor and not sure of the process when I die. I want to make out a list of the music I want played; I keep procrastinating on what to do. I also saw a nice coffin like a hand-woven basket, which I'd like. No wonder I can't sleep at night as details keep spinning around my mind. Does anyone have any suggestions??
they can't be bothered to send us a 3x5 card to put in our glove box. Instead we have to do their work for them and buy a computer printer for their convenience
No Nathan, it's that I don't have a cell phone, just a landline that hangs on the kitchen wall with a cord hanging down. Holly regularly tells me I need to get with the times.@Della, you mean taking a screenshot on an iPhone? Here's an Apple link that explains the process: Take a screenshot on iPhone
yesI've done that myself in the past...That is great advice and I did start yesterday with a box of old stuff I have. The only problem is in that box of stuff I ran into this Life Magazine special I forgot I had and spent the next two hours browsing through it...lol.

Thanks for all your information birdy: It's a difficult subject to discuss and my sons don't want to talk about it. I'll just have to make a list of my wishes and tell them where I've filed it, along with the Title Deeds of my house. Can you talk about funeral plans with your kids.
