What have you bought recently?

While I was traveling I was using paper cups, so now that I'm settled down in my apartment (with a dishwasher) I've sprung for tiny 3 oz glass tumblers to help the environment and save money (will take a year to be in the black but still, savings eventually). Mostly expect to use for kefir and maybe like condiment cup and put olives in, etc.

Bella, I agree that people worried about high energy prices and still buying discretionary items aren’t being realistic. I would go without many things before I would be cold in my home.

People get a high from buying stuff that arrives and then often they rarely use it. Some people never even take the tags off. Obviously it’s become a psychological issue and instead of addressing it they keep shopping. I am a practical person that can distinguish wants from needs.

Like everyone else I enjoy spending on wants but still make sure to live within my budget. When prices escalated I cut out or substituted for cheaper options every discretionary item in my budget.

The snow has finally melted off the sidewalks, so I pulled my cart to the store for a gallon of milk and some OJ. It’ll be snowing again by this evening. Could have waited since I’ll be out in the car in the afternoon, but needed to make myself walk.

A couple of things for my remodeled bathroom.
After seeing overpriced soap dishes in stores, I found these on Amazon at less than half the price. And they're better:

  1. Wooden Soap Dish for Shower,Set of 3 Shower Soap Holder,Self draining Bar Soap Holder for Bathroom, Soap Saver Soap Tray Soap Stand for Homemade Soap, Vowupt

And some microfiber drying towels:

Where's the picture?

I bought something! Four half gallons of ice cream. There was a crisis here last night because I didn't have ice cream and had to "borrow" some from DD's freezer.

I'd have bought more but it was too heavy to carry even just from the store to DD's car.
Ever put that ice cream in a cone? 🍦

Kinda makes it more fun out of a cone...just sayin' :)

I went in looking for a new runner for kitty's dishes, which I've found, but the absolute bonus found was a 2 litres Mason-type glass jar for my coffee grounds. A bargain at just £2.49 and it took the whole store bag. Yipee!

Similar to one in pic. Frustrated with the store I bought it in, their website constantly give me the message: "Item not found!" I've tried every word and synonym I know but same repeat lol!

I went to the store after @hollydolly 's post about food cost increasing in the US. I went through my pantry and checked what was low in my stock. I purchased vegetable oil, canned evaporated milk, tuna and flour. Those were things I was low on. I keep a good pantry and freezer but sometimes we forget to stay ahead and be proactive to keep cost down.

I agree, totally.

I have to pass the floral department as I leave the store. There were pots of tulips there, reaching out to me and begging me to take them home. Yup. "Pick me!" "No, me!" I almost got a pot of yellow ones, but the bright pink won. Now I feel guilty about leaving the yellow ones behind.

Actually, I bought them for DD, not me. When I got in the car, DGD was with her and lamented that nobody ever buys her flowers. I'm off tomorrow, but as I pass the floral department on my way out Tuesday, I'm gonna get a pot of yellow ones for her.

Walmarting happens tomorrow. Maybe I'll spend some $$ there. Or not.

A DollarTree is a mile away. After recent inflation, items all went up to $1.25. These 3.43 ounce 5-packs of J.R. Dippers Cheese Dip & Bread Sticks that were $3 elsewhere like Walmart are sold for $1.25 each so I bought 4 packs yesterday. Opening packaging is a bit of an effort.

Like mango juice. Also selling 33.8 ounce containers of Jumex Mango Nectar (Mexican brand) for $1.25 or about 1/3 the cost of similar products from say Kern and well below same product elsewhere. After finding the juice has consistency and taste of like other brands, will return and buy 3 or 4.

I just bought Dawn dish liquid with the new no mess cap. I'm taking the labels off.
I'll use goo gone to get the sticky off.
I'll reuse this bottle. I have a small one I've been refilling but the cap is always goopy.
Small things make me happy, like a no mess bottle on my sink. 🤷
