What have you bought recently?

Costco shopping has trained a lot of us to buy in bulk. Most of us have learned the hard way to not bulk buy on impulse though. I remember buying a case of V-8 there about 25 years ago. Wound up throwing nearly all of it out. Not sure what made me think we'd become V-8 drinkers...

I had to look up C n M. Is it roughly an adult version of Cracker Jack? I love popcorn, but not so much caramel corn - I don't like sticky foods.
LOL..I think I've wandered into a foreign land..I have no idea what C&M..or Cracker Jack means..:D

Cracker Jack has been around since 1896. It's caramel coated popcorn and peanuts that had a tiny "prize" inside. Usually a silly piece of junk like a sticker. According to Wikipedia, the prize has been discontinued.

It's always sold at baseball games and is even mentioned in the song sung during the 7th inning break at all Major League Baseball games. "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" includes the line, "Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, I don't care if I never get back."

Some old fashioned 9v powered smoke detectors. The oh so wonderful and super duper lithium powered 10 year ones already took a dump. (installed march of 2022). Even my feeble mind can do that math. Fortunately I found a simple cure for the defective piles of crap... big hammer :ROFLMAO:

we don't have Cracker Jack here..nor do we have Major or minor league baseball games. :ROFLMAO:

I'm sure there are rugby, soccer and cricket traditions that are well-known and loved. Sports permeate our lives without us even realizing it. ❤️
I don't understand your point, Star ... I haven't heard of your local popcorn or the sport that advertises it.... I'm lost as to how that correlates with our British sports... we don't connect any of our sports with food commercials

The solar light "watering can" came today. It's all set up in the garden, and I can hardly wait for full dark to see it. My heart will be broken 💔 if it doesn't work.

Maybe I'll spend some money tomorrow after work. Or not.

We may need to have an intervention...this spending :poop: has to stop! GG needs new glasses and probably a TV in the not-to-distant future, and Christmas is coming. Sigh.

I've got a solar light watering can as well... it's fabulous !!

Interesting. I guess I assumed that some UK sports also have some food associations.

Baseball watching in US stadiums is strongly associated with hot dogs, peanuts, cracker jack and beer. Football has elaborate tailgating traditions at the stadiums that include chili, chicken wings, burgers, chips and dip, and beer. Football watching parties at bars and homes tend to also include those foods.

Sorry if I wasn't clear about "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". It isn't now and has never been a commercial or advertisement for Cracker Jack or anything else. It was a popular song from 1908 and somehow it came to be that the chorus is sung by the crowd at games.

Should have mentioned that the above associations are for spectators, not players. No idea if there are traditional foods for the players.
oh yes I realise that's what you meant... don't get me wrong there's food available at the sports venues for spectators ..hot dogs et al.. but they don't advertise it on TV.. or on billboards...they wouldn't be allowed to by our Offcom service What is Ofcom?

How are the 2 associated then if they don't advertise ..?
People just seem to know, probably by going to games or watching parties as children and seeing what's happening. Same as other long held traditions passed along through the generations, I suppose.

For instance, when we take our GS and GD to a baseball game they eat in-the-shell peanuts, hot dogs, cracker jack, etc. It's the only time we buy them those foods.

The contractor who was there Wednesday and Thursday told us that we have to label the packing differently. The packages snap shut, and we had been labeling them so that the labels sealed the packages. Now we're required to put the labels on the bottom, meaning anybody could come along and help themselves to a cookie or two, remove a muffin, stick their fingers in icing... Imagine someone removing the lid from a cake and running their fingers through the icing. Ew. None of the products that we bake and package will be sealed anymore.

The breads and rolls that we bake in house are put in plastic bags with twist ties. Would you believe that we're no longer going to do that, either? We're supposed to just put them paper bags, unsealed.

Chihuahua! Who comes up with this :poop:?

Imo, almost everything should be sealed, especially food. It doesn’t take much to put a thin plastic seal around a cap. People will open anything. I bought DH a small container of Vaseline. No seal of any kind. He wasn’t thrilled since this is for his lips.

I've bought plenty of fresh French bread and other bakery and supermarket-made breads that were displayed in paper bags. Keeps the crust, um, crusty. About 1/4 of the French bread sticks out.

Don't think unsealed muffins, cakes, cookies and pastries make sense though.

Just ordered some new speakers for the exercise / party room. They have 15" woofers for the deep bass sound (Okay, it's a guy thing), but great for dancing. I also ordered some laminate for the counter tops to dress it up a bit. Maybe I will post pictures when it's all done.
Yep, my son would totally understand. He just bought Adam Audio T7 (studio monitor) speakers with the T-10 subwoofer, a few months ago. He got them because the ones he had weren't sounding right, most notably during our studio sessions.

@Jules "Imo, almost everything should be sealed, especially food." I agree. I hate it when I buy ice cream that doesn't have a seal but an easy open container. I wish Price Rite would start putting seals on their containers. People doing disgusting things to ice cream a couple of years ago, really made me aware of the need. And I thought after so much was publicized about it, companies would take that extra step.
