What have you bought recently?

Spent $60 on real food, except $11 for kitty litter. The total was $100, but my Kaiser card paid for $40. Yay for Kaiser card. Other than that, I haven't spent any money in days and days.

Now that I'm "retired," I gotta watch the pennies. Retired? Let's say unemployed instead. We'll wait and see if I can manage to stay that way.
what's a kaiser card ?

My Medicare insurance supplement is through Kaiser-Permanente. Because I've been "identified" with medical conditions that can benefit from healthy foods, Kaiser gives me $150 every three months that pays for foods that are sugar-free/fat-free/low-fat, no-sodium or low-sodium, fresh veggies/fruit, multigrain breads. Stuff that's supposedly healthy.

I bought a new gas weed whacker to deal with some mysterious tall hollow weeds that had appeared almost over night back by the creek.

Also got some New Guinea impatiens to replace the pansies in the planters. That is the extent of my gardening this year.Summer flowers.jpg

I bought a 5 inch chair cushion for my recliner. It matched so well, but it's too high and too firm; not comfortable for me. I sleep in my recliner and the first time I used it, I woke up with a sore neck. I have a return in process and will make the return via Kohls.

I also bought Cafe Le Rou sugar free hazelnut syrup for my coffee. I'm very disappointed; doesn't taste like hazelnut and had a slightly bitter taste. I'll try using half the recommended serving and see if that helps. I cannot return it. :cautious: I was trying to cut back on my soy and vegetable oils and other ingredients that are in my favorite hazelnut flavoring: Coffee Mate sugar free hazelnut powdered creamer.

I bought my second box of Nexcare bandages. I had ordered a box a couple of weeks ago (first time I heard of this brand). As far as waterproof bandages go, these are excellent. Since I'm testing my blood sugar more often and wash my hands an awful lot, these work great for me.

I also bought more of her "things" (that's what I call them) for "Little Girl". These crinkle balls are her favorite things to chase around.

My wife and I decided that we should upgrade our cell phones, so last Saturday saw us in the shop in Bournemouth, where a very bemused thirty something couldn't believe that the vast technology improvements in digital location hadn't rendered our twenty year old phones redundant. We went through a brain exploding session, the salesman, who originated from Hungary, spoke the whole sales pitch in fluent Gibberish. My wife has a new phone with lots of whistles and bells. My would be new phone, stayed in the shop, my current one may be twenty years old but at least it doesn't scare the crap out of me.

I found a Maigret mystery that somehow I missed when I was collecting the series.....so I bought it. You have to be careful with these books because sneaky publishers sometimes change the title when they put out a new translation.
yes that's one of my Big Bugbears... the changing of the title by publishers. You think you haven't read a book, but you have, they've just changed the title. That shouldn't be allowed. Imagine if they did that in the music world ?

At a thrift store I found this, while killing time searching for stickers. Two different ladies told me it looked great. $20

Because it has never been worn (see the button still in original bag) I searched the brand name. Made in the USA. The big black collar is also a hood and it is reversible. I have to turn up the cuffs on the sleeves.

That looks very stylish @Jules :)

I ordered a cotton baby blanket from Amazon. I don't have prime. But I'm going to put it on the center of the bed so if one of the cats throws up on it, I can spot clean or machine wash that. Instead of having to re-do the sheets I just washed!

I have cat beds set up on one side and foot of the bed.

What cracked me up was at least two reviews stated they bought it for their dogs. I don't feel so bad.

I like reversable clothes. I have two reversable jackets that are not quite as long as these. Nice find Jules!
