just be grateful you dn't live in the UK..our petrol is double what yours is.. or nearly double and now we have a shortage... this today.... a forecourt with about 30 pumps.... all dried up...

That sounds totally stressful, @hollydolly. My stomach is knotting up just thinking about it.

Today I bought a lot of stuff....

It was important that I got OTC meds.. some paracetamol, and some Ibuprofen because we're being told that due to the US/Iran war we're going to run into shortages within 2 weeks.. so just in case that's true , I got those...

However that aside..I bought some new Hanging baskets , with spring flowers... for the front and back door... I always use fake flowers in the hanging baskets, to save the maintenence and they look good all year round.

I also bought a 5 foot Yukka Plant... and as I was putting it into the car , a couple of women pulled up alongside me and said '' oooh where did you get that, was it very expensive''... so i told them and they went dashing off to get one..
I got whole load of other stuff...that's got really low.. like washing pods.. and Notepads.. pens.. all that type of stuff...

Thank fully yesterday I got a delivery of the heavy stuff from Tesco, so id din't have to struggle with anything heavy today....

Tesco was almost empty it was such a beautiful day I think people had gone off to enjoy the sun somewhere else...

Yep you're right Ksav.... I'm fortunate that I have an almost full tank.. and I don't need to have fuel to get to work, but the look of frustration on the faces of the people who were pulling in to the forecourt and realising there was no fuel... told the same story as when we had barely any during Covid...

People wondering where they could go to find some. The nearest petrol garage to the one that I was at today... is a long way away... so you can imagine if people are already low on fuel that they're panicking a little bit.. not knowing if they can get to it , or if in fact the next one has any fuel..

An orange tree. Well it looks more like a plant and the oranges are as big as cherry tomatoes. 12,50 at the Lidl supermarket.

I went crazy buying stuff on Amazon this week, with two goals 1) organization with enclosed containers to make dusting easier and 2) healthier eating.

I had bought a jicama at the store and it was hard work to prep it with my little kitchen knife, so I bought an 8 inch chef's knife which turns out to be big enough for a watermelon -- I guess lesson learned is don't ask AI what knife to buy to fix a jicama.

Most of the items I wanted had to be bought in sets with more than I need (wanted two salad bowls, came in a set of three; wanted 1 storage box, comes in a set of 4, wanted 4 little freezer half cup containers, came in a set of 8, etc etc), which then requires more storage and is such a waste.

Yorkshire Pudding has its own reserved section

I was just going to say that!

I didn't realize you could buy Yorkshire pudding pre-made. I'm terrible with pastry so I've never attempted to make them. My father once made a traditional roast beef with Yorkshire puddings, and it was all so delicious. I have always wanted to try a real English Sunday roast, afternoon tea, English breakfast, and ploughman's lunch.

I know I can make those things myself (a ploughman's lunch is just an assortment of items, obviously), but I want to experience them in England (or Ireland, or Scotland. . .). Someday!

Speaking of that, I'd better get back to work.

Yorkshire Pudding has its own reserved section

oh yes frozen yorkshire pudding. Most people buy frozen it's almost as good as home made... and just takes 4 minutes in the oven

I prefer home- made.... or the Giant ones made by the Pub chefs...

@Kasav...yorkshire pudding isn't made from pastry.. it's an egg and milk batter that's all.. just take 4 ounces of Plain flour .. little bit of salt.. 2 eggs.. and 1/2 pint of milk or a milk and water mix if you want them really light....

Beat the mixture together just like you would Panackes, it's essentially the same recipe..

This is the important part....now put the mix into the fridge for a minimum of 30 mins..


Then heat the oven to high... pour in a little oil to coat whatever pan you're using..could be muffin pans.. or a normal baking tray depnding if you want individual YPs or just a big one..

Put the muffin pan with teh oil into the oven and heat on 220C/200C Fan/Gas 7. until you can see the oil is starting to smoke slightly..about 10 minutes...

Then pur the cold Batter into the muffin tray... and put into the oven for 20/25mins and don't open the oven door before than or they'll fall flat. If making in a roasting tray ..then cook for 35 minuees..

I tell you what I did get today...from the farm shop..I got a Chicken parcels.. freshly made by the farm butcher.. boned out thighs stuffed with sausagemeat, wrapped in bacon and tied into a decorative cushion shape.

...so I'm going to make them for dinner in a minute... so jethro if you and granny can get here before I dish up... you can have some with pleasure...

More pics from the supermarket today..... this is a tesco superstore but it's still way smaller than any American Wallmart from what I'm led to believe..
