that's why they were telling you NO Cash..because only self service till were open...it's slippery slope.. before we find ourselves with nowhere to spend cash...

Nuts really. I'll have to warn my stepfather of the possibility. He doesn't know how to use self check out he says. Last time he went to Walmart there was only one cashier open. Rest was self check out. They would help him at self check out with his credit card if he needed it.

It is pretty routine to only have self checkout here during slow hours.

Before the pandemic lockdowns we had a 24 hour grocery and department store nearby that stopped attended lanes overnight. Now they close at midnight, but there is only self checkout after 9 to 10 each night.

I think you can still shove cash into a slot, but it probably doesn't take anything smaller than 10 dollar bills. I'm not sure about that though.
 
Amazon Cyber Monday. It's a disease. So far satin pillowcases and washable microfibre makeup remover cloths for DGD, flashlight gloves and a Farmer's Almanac for DSIL, oblong Pyrex food storage containers for both DS/DSIL, a book of funny facts and a New Yorker cartoons wall calendar for DS, Hot Hands Toe Warmers for me.

Little things for DS/DSIL because I bought the bed. Oblong glass food storage containers because they fit better in the fridge and don't leave stains or after-taste like plastic does. New Yorker cartoon calendar because they both giggle over the New Yorker magazine cartoons.

Little things for DGD to open, but she's getting $$, which she really needs now that it's time to start paying student loans again.

DGS reeks of $$ but recently bought a house so he's getting an At Home gift card because there are so many things to choose from there, even artwork. He mentioned that there's nothing on his walls. At all. Oblong food storage containers for him as well. They weren't expensive, but he can use them and will have a present to open.

Toe warmers for me because the floors at work are sooo cold. There are forty pairs to a box. I'm hoping Santa brings me two pairs of electric sox, a pair to wear and a pair to wash.

I haven't figured out how much I saved by buying today. Saved? The way to save is to not spend, but hey, it's Cyber Monday. It's all gonna be here tomorrow, and I see that Amazon has already snatched the money from my account!
 
Bought a small space heater as a backup. Last year mine died, so I want a better quality unit in reserve.

One room is hard to heat once the temperatures dip to the teens without overheating the rest of the house.

On the last day of the Black Friday sale I finally made my mind up to buy an Electric Piano Keyboard. I've been thinking about it for a while.. but the price came down by over 40 % in the sale, so I bit the bullet and bought it.

It not only will give me an outlet for something to do.. but now that I have OA in my fingers, I can no longer play anything with strings.. and as I've always been able to play a little Piano and keyboard, I felt that this would be great exercise for my hands...

Also bought a new 1/2 step for my back door.

My back door is quite high off the ground with no intermediate step.. so, for many years now I've had a 1/2 step there... it stops my back jarring stepping down from a height...onto the patio.... but the weather has taken it's toll on it now and split the top.. so I bought another one, ...

We keep one of those in our RV because it's more efficient than the RV's propane-fueled forced air HVAC system. We bring it into the house and use it to warm our master BR/BA when the weather gets cold (ok, coldish. After all, I'm talking So Cal.).

Thanks for the reminder to ask DH to pull it out of the 5th wheel.

Those little heaters have sure come a long way over the past 25 years, haven't they?

We had one in our RV too. In the winter, the company guest room is downstairs and gets chilly. We give it a quick blast of heat, when needed. Those little heaters are amazing and very reasonable to run.
