What have you bought recently?

I haven’t made a purchase yet, just researching so far. My kitchen range oven is getting finicky. Sometimes element does not go on, sometimes it does. I am thinking of just replacing the range as it is 13 years old and if I just replace the element, something else might break down.
These are always very personal decisions, so you know what is best in your situation. But, just to say, my range is much older than 13 years. It looked far from new when I bought this house. It was 2-3 (?) years ago my element went out. New ranges would not fit into the same space without alterations, which would be a significant cost in addition to about $4000 for a range as much like the old one as I could find. I replaced the element and it's been working fine ever since. It cost me very little - $100 or so.

Delicious vegan mocha flavoured cheesecake with chew salted caramel dairy free ice cream.
It’s soooo good. I wish I had a picture to add but 🤤😋It’s all gone.

I do purchase some things online since they are often cheaper and depends on the item and cost of shipping. Some things aren’t worth being to ship back for a refund.
Wow, that sounds good..
Being a vegetarian I'm a bit biased here!

What have I bought recently? Now there's a question. Seems like I spend very little on a day-to-day basis, then it's WHAMMO!!!

DH & I left on a 7 day cruise last week (did anyone miss me?). I found a great price on it and what the heck, why not, right?

As always, I notified the neighbors and asked them to keep an eye on my house while we were gone. 9:45 PM a few nights into our cruise, I get a call from one of our neighbors that our pool is gushing water through the block wall, into his driveway and down the street. Oh dear.

To make matters worse, the neighbor who has keys to our house and gates was also out of town.

I call another neighbor (spry kid in his 30s), asking him to hop the wall to see what's going on. Turns out our filter sprang a huge leak and was continuing to draw water from the pool then spewing it out into the yard. We lost about 9" of water from the pool. Bless his heart, he shut off the power for us.

DH assessed when we got home. Seems that part of the filter is original equipment, so 1955-ish. Forget getting parts or jury-rigging it. A $2250 repair. Like I said... WHAMMO!

I did follow ZZ Top's advice while vacationing and bought myself a pair of cheap sunglasses. Sunglasses.jpg

I noticed you weren't posting, but given your recent discussion about your o/h's health , I wondered if something might have gone a little skewed... I'm very pleased it hasn't , and you instead had a wonderful break...

Now fess up because @seadoug has just arrived back also from a cruise... ...were you 2 secretly cruisin' together ? :sneaky:🤪

Aw thanks, HD. DH is doing fine. Tests are all clear. Next set of tests is after the first of the year. I'll keep you posted.

@seadoug was in the Mediterranean and we were in coastal Mexico, so not even close. However, I'd bet he's a hoot to cruise with!
@StarSong we have friends in CA that we haven't been able to travel with since 2022. We have a 7 day Mexico cruise out of San Diego booked in March 2026. We are looking forward to it.

I'm pretty laid back on cruises but occasionally I get crazy. Holland America has Rolling Stone Rock Room. One night there were lots of people dancing and I got up and danced by myself in a sea of people. Just had to let loose!

Just ordered the below 3 items from Amazon for $91 including tax. My birthday presents. The cheap umbrellas I have for photography use, easily break. This one reviews as more robust and is also clear. Expect the holder will require some custom modifications so the umbrella fits in the tube securely. My current lightweight rain overpants are old and leaky

Pretty much anything goes on a cruise. What might cause people to clutch their pearls on land, they'll not only cheer on during a cruise, they often feel free to copy the behavior.

Im trying to do better and not store my meals in plastic containers.
So I bought some lids for my small Corning Ware casseroles.
I can stack them in the fridge now. You cant stack them with their glass lids.
Also now I can store and heat and eat in the same container.
And now I only have one thing to wash cause I dont have to wash the plastic container. :D
