What have you bought recently?

New prescription eyeglasses … $825.00.

Merry Christmas to me, lol!

After I finish huffing and puffing over the expense, I’m thankful and blessed that the cost of such basic needs are within reach.
If you have your prescription, check out Zenni Optical. (online). A great place to pick up some spare glasses at a reasonable price.

I took my prescriptions to the Walmart eye center. They made my sunglasses with single vision and my other pair are bifocals. I can’t remember the exact price now, but I know for sure both of them only cost me about $500 together.

i boght my progressives online at Glasses USA and the price was good. I chose Muse Corvalllis in blue because I like both the shape and color. I have been very happy.

Last week I bought a bunch of stuff online..it arrived today....

One of them is this heavy duty retractable Measuring tape.. with luminous numbers.. to replace mine which is broken..

I'm more excited about this than anything else I bought because I paid less than £4 for it.. and its a stunning piece of workmanship..seriously.. it's bigger than my palm and really heavy.... I would have paid more than double this if I'd bought it in the big box DIY store..

I bought one very like this some months ago. Love it! Doesn't have the luminous numbers but it is much easier to use, especially when the item being measured is very long.

I have a very long driveway and cannot see my mailbox from inside my house. I got tired of walking down the drive to see if the mailman came. So, I bought a mailbox chime alert system. Works like a charm and no more walking for no reason to check for mail.

What an interesting idea. I clicked the link but didn't see an explanation for how the mailbox communicates with the receiver in your house. Presuming it's not wired or wifi.

This mailbox alarm alert is a smart device with sensors in your mailbox that send out an alert when your mailbox is opened. Click here for more info.
Thanks for the link.

Our mail route is served by a walking postal worker. Mailboxes are on the houses or front gates rather than at the curb.

We cut a mail slot cut into a wall of our (attached) garage. Inside the garage there's a shelf with a container on it to catch the mail, so my question about how your mailbox alarm words was a matter of curiosity.

Just now purchased (Amazon) an outdoor flood light and remote control for same so I can turn it on from inside. It plugs in so no electrician needed since there is already an outlet just under the eave. Hope it works!

Just bought another Christmas tree... a small one to put on the sideboard. I have a large one in my front room and a living one in the kitchen, and a tiny one in the hall. When all the lights are switched on, it really brightens things up at this gloomy time of the year.

I bought online from Best Buy{have acct} a Panasonic AM/FM portable radio,it arrived this morning. My old radio had for 10 yrs gave out 2 weeks ago. I like to listen to local FM classical station when I wake up in morning. This new one is perfect right by my bed table. I may stay longer in bed now LOL!

Today I bought a deep storage box with lid 80 Litre ....this is the 4th one I've bought... it's to use to store items from the kitchen when the new utility room is being built in the new year

A new tv unit... and a small sideboard...matching...

The sideboard is going where another sidebard already sits. The current one is where I keep some of my trainers.. but I hate the cupboard, ... have wanted to replace it for years but the alcove it sit in is quite narrow and I could never find another small cupboard that woud fit in there.. that I liked...until now...

This comes already assembled as does the matching TV unit... both in Country cream

Today I chauffeured my lady to her appointment at Salisbury hospital. Later, when she found me in the carpark, we left the hospital for the city centre. Salisbury is not a big city, it has city status due to the magnificent cathedral. Centuries old Salisbury grew out of The Roman settlement known as Old Sarum. The cathedral is a magnificent, achitectural masterpiece.

In the city centre I am instructed to head to Franklins, the car knows it's own way without the satnav. Franklins is a retail shop trading in all things sewing, including fabrics, and today, Franklins seriously damaged my wealth. Having said that, there's a new coat for me in the pipeline:

New Coat 001.JPG

The grey fabric will become my new coat, the sparkly blue fabric that you can just see will become a new ballgown. I doubt that I could get into it, going by the size of the paper pattern, so it's probably for the lady.

The new coat will be lined with this silk-like, attractive fabric. I had better not make jokes about the cost.

Went to my produce store and Aldi yesterday. Spent about $50, mostly on fresh produce plus a few staples.

I was nearly out of frozen broccoli and bell peppers. Fortuitously both were on sale: broccoli @ 69¢/lb, red & green bell peppers @ 99¢/lb. Bought 4-5 lbs of each, cut up the broc, then blanched, drained, blotted with kitchen towels, and froze it in zip locks. Ditto the peppers, but those just get cut up and frozen.

The pot of broccoli water is covered and outside my kitchen door so it doesn't stink up the house. Why waste that vitamin-enriched water by pouring it down the sink? I let it cool outside until the next day, then water outdoor plants with it. I do the same with pasta water.

It's so convenient to always have frozen bell peppers on hand. As for the broccoli, I love eating the stalks, but commercially frozen broc is 90% florets. Plus my frozen broc tastes better than the commercially frozen stuff - maybe I blanch it for a shorter time. 🤷‍♀️

New sheets! I have one of those fat mattresses and other queen sized sheets tend to pop off it. The first set of these was blue and I like them better but when I decided I needed a second set to avoid having to wash and dry them in the morning ahead of housekeeping, I went with white this time as they were available next day from Amazon. Anyone else wish they'd avoided Amazon like the devil back before it closed down so many brick and mortar stores. I sure do.
