What have you bought recently?

This is such an insignificant thing, but I had to go to Walmart today to pick up a prescription and while I was there I bought a bag of these - 12ounces only $4.16. I think they're made for melting down and making chocolate, but I don't do that (and don't want to). They're good to eat just right out of the bag.

I was shocked at the prices on Valentine candy - $18 - $20 for a heart shaped box that wasn't very big.

That is a good price per ounce for chocolate.

The best available chocolate product at cost per ounce remains by far, these below link Swiss Miss milk chocolate hot chocolate boxes for $8.68 on Amazon. The same product, even at Walmart is $16.21. Each box contains 50 each 1.375 ounce packages or 68.75 ounces total. That is $0.13 per ounce. Consider how most chocolate candy bars are less than 3 ounces but even at the Dollar Tree are $1.25 while many drug stores are now selling single less than 3 ounce candy bars for over $2.

Although I do sometimes make hot chocolate with the packets, much more often consume the powder directly. And do so without any liquid at all because despite the dryness, I start salivating like Pavlov's dog. As pocket food away from home, it works great because the flexible paper outside, aluminum foil inside packaging is robust in any pocket, and is an excellent container for putting back into a pocket partially eaten cleanly simply by after tearing off the top strip, readily folds down from the top without ever leaking. Also generally, refrain from consuming any foods with chocolate except once or twice a week.

On the approach to Valentines day Chocolate and flowers prices go sky high... I used to always tell my husband not to buy me a card because those are ridiculous prices.. ... and to wait until the week after Valentines day if he wanted to buy me chocs or flowers... far more sensible
