What have you bought recently?

Paid 800. this morning for a roof repair, new flashing, new shingles around the area, having everything sealed including checking all nail heads.

This was done due to a leak after storms and massive rain. I had water dripping thru the bedroom hallway. Just last night, got up to get medicine for a migraine, another puddle in the hall. Problem not actually the roof but the AC. Went ahead with roof repair scheduled for today. Keep in mind, this had been brought to my attention before.

Gasoline. $5.29/gallon (cash price). And that's by far the cheapest around. Costco is $5.45/gal at the moment.

I cringed at the price pump but my car was at 1/4 tank, higher holiday prices are coming this week, and oil just crossed into $100/barrel territory, so I figure it's not going to get cheaper anytime soon. Certainly not in the next week.

This was uploaded to the neighbourhood app a couple of days ago... this garage is about 20 miles from me....shocking price this is for one litre.....4,5 litres in a UK gallon...£7.43 per Gallon... = to $9.85 USD approx PER GALLON !....... caused by a war were not even part of.......

Now just in 2 days everywhere around here is charging this price.. and one of our major supermarkets announced today that all fuel will now be on ration, because we're desperastely running short...

I just bought a steering wheel lock. Now with the enormous increase in Fuel prices at the pumps, car crime rises.. now criminals find it more diffult to break into a car's petrol tank, they find it easier to just steal the whole car, so steering lock it is for my car now..

Also I've just booked a room at a riverside hotel for a trip week after next

The kids are really struggling right now with all the price increases in every area. If it was just one thing, not such a problem but it is everything.

I placed a big order at Amazon for household and personal care items so they won't have to worry about those for a while. As usual I will continue to buy meat for their freezer when there is a great deal.

I have always shopped this way. Being frugal and getting the best sell prices and bulk pricing has always been beneficial. They are still learning as young adults.

How young are they ?

My daughter is a super shopper, she's careful very much with her money...no-one would guess she's half Scottish..lol... she buys quality goods so they last.. but she shops carefully for food, stores food well and in bulk .. and doesn't pay more than she feels is necessary.. she'll shop around to get a good bargain.. but then she's not just starting out.. she's 50 next week... I can hardly believe that !

they are mid 30's. She has a 13 year old son but they have been very much in our family since he was just 6 months old. They lived with me for about 3 years.

They bought a home about 5 years ago. It has been one thing after another, appliances going out, new heating and AC, property taxes and insurance, utilities, on and on.

I think they did not really grasp the fact all this happens, normal. Except for the economy tanking and all the high costs of everything. The older generations have seen this before and we learned to be prepared. We know how to budget, that there are things you can live without.

Not to mention feeding, clothing and activities for a teenage boy. This is also the time to start teaching him about these things.

By the time my parents were in their mid 30's they had 3 teenage kids ..I was almost 18... and they had one under 10....

My donations at the charity store always seem to cost me. Today I spotted 2 new wicker baskets with the price tags still attached, so instead of $25 each I paid $6 each. First thing my husband asked was if I needed them. Maybe not, but that’s not the point.
