For me it was dissecting a cat for my Anatomy & Physiology college lab class. I was a cat lover and owner and was surprised that it didn't freak me out or gross me out. Also venipuncture. I had to learn to take bloods as part of my job as a Disease Intervention Specialist. My supervisor and colleages had me learn on a orange and plastic cups of warm water so I could feel what it took the needle to get through skin and what the blood would feel like going into the tube. I was so focused on doing it right when I moved to a human that it didn't bother me. Ironically, I still can't stand to watch it being done on T.V. or on myself. I became quite good at it though. I felt I'd be gentle like I'd want someone to be when taking my blood.

That is a great question OED. Many things for me because I've been trying a lot of new things since retiring.

The one that stands out most was giving a shot to one of our goats. I never thought I could do it. Turned out to be so easy. It took the first one getting sick to force me to do it. Before that I would get the vet to do routine shots.

Sell pot for a living! :yeah: If someone would have told me this in the 70's I would not have believed it possible. Not only is Marijuana (medical only here) legal here but that I'd be working for a legal provider. The last best job in the last best place. Can't beat that.

A few years back I took my beloved dog to be euthanized. In the past a family member did this for me or my hubby. The hubby was away at the time and I just knew I couldn't let my dog suffer any longer. I had my little Yorkie for over 16 years. He was blind and deaf, had kidney failure and couldn't stand up the morning I took him. I don't know where I found the courage to do it. I guess my love for him was so powerful, I found the strength to do it. To this day,I can't remember driving home.

I guess mine would be trying DYI projects on my own. I can lay a "click & lock" wood floor pretty good and then finish it off with quarter round trim. Even a neighbor asked who did our floors and my husband said..."she did"...made me feel pretty good.
