What have you stopped doing because you're afraid of falling?

Same here!

You know, I misread the thread title I thought it was "What have you stopped doing because you're afraid of failing, and I was gonna say that I stopped doing my own taxes...View attachment 272106
Hey Nathan...what if that's what the OP meant all along, didn't realize the typo and we've all been giving the wrong replies. ROFL :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

What have you stopped doing because you're afraid of falling?

Carrying anything heavy when walking on frozen snow/ice
without these

Only took a dozen or so times up at the cabin to get my attention
Last fall was carrying a propane tank
Slipped and down I went
Busted my shoulder pretty good for a spell
Can't be maimed up there.....hard enough when whole

I no longer power walk outside after tripping on a very uneven sidewalk and got a concussion. I also broke a few things falling on ice. So I have slowed down, I watch the ground when I walk and don’t walk on ice.
the thing is, any youngsters reading this would think we're a bunch of old people shuffling along terrified we might fall... but the truth is for any youngsters reading this, is that most of us are not old and shuffling..most of us are walking as we always did, or mostly as we always did , what happens when you're older is that bones break much more easily when you fall. and take much longer to heal...ergo the reason for taking more care on uneven roads, stairs et al..

I've got those Gary... I mentioned them further back on this thread. Busted shoulder is awfully painful... I got a cracked shoulder blade that was horribly painful for many months.. and still hasn't fully healed after over 2 years so I can't imagine how much the broken shoulder would hurt...

I never did downhill skiing so there no need to give that up but I don’t go anywhere cold enough for ice or I would give that up. But I gave up motorcycles, skates, climbing and skateboards long ago and don’t intend to do take any of them up again.

Mostly the concessions I’ve made involve ladders and driving. I have given up all but the shortest ladders along with my one Japanese orchard ladder. That is now the limit of my climbing. To maintain my trees I now must budget to pay for a service. I still drive but I have very mindfully retaught myself not to drive in a hurry, ever. I avoid commute and also avoid long drives just because the the seats are not comfortable enough for a full day of driving.

Well, climbing for a start, and the tree-house had to go too, but getting rid of my 197 parachutes was a wrench though. 😊

I have a pedal machine that I can get a really good workout and get my heart rate up. I used to achieve this with power walking. I still walk daily because it’s good for you. But to use it I am sitting safely in my chair 😂.
