What helpful tip would you like everybody to know?

Well, since we are a seniors group, we've acquired a lot of knowledge. What are some helpful tips you would like everybody to know? What are some of the things that you have found, which makes life a little better?

I'm writing as I'm thinking of them.... :D

My favourite one I use is: if a collar or a little bit of a clothing item is rumpled, instead of getting the Iron out, I just use my hair straighteners..

The straighteners are in the same room as the clothes are hanging so it's quick and simple

the one tip I have that I use every day is... ;; Don't buy items or appliances that help with your grip to open tight jars or lids.. just slip on a pair of rubber gloves.. or wrap a rubber band around the lid!

I use the rubber gloves..works every time, and I have arthritis in my hands!!

Being the usual curmudgeon, I don't have tips for seniors. It would be for the young generation. Simply, plan for your retirement, early, and work at it, or you will end up in poor circumstances in which so many seniors find themselves. You need to acquire 'knowledge' early. Read, be informed, plan, follow through.

That's the most useful tip of all...

Advice to the young.....Begin saving for your retirement as soon as you begin to work at a steady job....retirement creeps up faster than you might realize, and traditional retirement benefits are becoming a thing of the past.

Advice to those already retired....stay active and watch your weight. Sitting around all day, watching TV, and eating snacks, will quickly catch up with you, and make for health problems which can quickly destroy the "Golden Years".

For stubborn sticky messes caused by stickers, tape, labels etc., on glass , ceramic, china , metal etc., use 5,or 6 drops peppermint or tea tree oil. Leave it for a for 5 or 10 minutes. The label, tape , glue ... will instantly come off as clean as ever with ease.

This is just for us geezers;

Write it down

You’ll forget if you don’t, and will waste whatever precious hours you have left,
searching what’s left of yer mind…ending up going ‘huh, wunner what is was’

oh, and write it down…..now (don't kid yerself, you won’t remember to later)

Keep a pair of scissors in the kitchen. Works well on parsley, cutting rhubarb, cubing bread for stuffing and for a host of other items that need chopping. So much faster also keep a straight pin in the kitchen. I have mine in a little plastic container. Before making hard boiled eggs, prick the shell with the pin then gently place them in boiling water and cook for the desired amount of time.Once cold the eggs will slide right out of their shell.

Teach yourself how to do most/all home repairs, while you're still young. With the internet, it's far easier to do just that, than when I was a young man and had to buy the DIY books at HD, and pour through library reference books. After that, buy rental properties, fix them up yourself, pay them off as quickly as you can, learn about contract law, write your own leases, and never sweat social security or pensions. People will always need to rent a place to live, and if you're handy, and a great landlord, you'll do very well.

You can sum that up: You get too soon old and too late smart.
