What in the world do you do all day?

Since semi-retiring, it’s also given me the ability to have time to help my friends when they’re going through a serious illness. I have helped three different friends stay out of nursing homes for a couple years.

Two of them died and one eventually had to go in a nursing home because she had Alzheimer’s. It also gave me the time to drive to visit her one day a week as it was an hour each way.

One of my older friends now get shots in her eyes for macular degeneration and can’t see to drive after she gets a shot so I’m able to take her. It’s a three step process and it usually involves 5–6 hours from the time I leave my house. If I was working full-time, I couldn’t have done any of these things.

Others never ask that specific question, however I often spout the following when people are wondering who I am.

Since I retired in 2017 from working 8-5 m-f, year after year, after year... every day I wake up now is Saturday! The government pays me good money to do NOTHING. I love it!
