What is "company casserole"?

Someone signed up with this for the church fellowship last Sunday. I had never heard the term before. I looked online, but nothing that was on the table resembled what I found. I asked the person that's in charge of the food what it was and she said she just thought it was something you can make a lot of inexpensively to feed a group of people.

There are a million versions but it usually has ground beef, pasta or noodles, tomatoes, cheese, etc…

Clench out the fridge, douse it with a can of cream something soup, sprinkle with cheese. Feed the unsuspecting. You find those in fundraiser cookbooks.
