Boooooooo!

Today's WII is a special edition for Halloween. I have the feeling one of you will get it right off the bat (Get it? Bat? See what I did there?), but then again perhaps it will be a stumper.

This item is made of iron, manufactured pre-1930 and is marked "Germany".

What Is It?

It was originally designed as a work station to collect mouse semen and to artifically inseminate mice. It was discovered later on it could be used with bats as well.

I think it is used by a person that smokes, probably for a pipe. The little holder on the right would hold matches, and the one on the left can hold a candle, or maybe the pipe itself. The little tub affair is for the ashes and used tobacco, and you might even put some kind of a little tobacco pouch in the tall one.
I have no idea why the cats are there ?

I believe those little creatures are mice.

Candleholder on left; napkins on right. The cup in center holds food, which you put on the plate in front. When the person is seated, you push the lever back on the doohickey in the center, and the plate flies up and food hits them in the face - old Halloween trick.

I've really no idea what that's for.......

No, but I like how you think! :D

DING! DING! DING!

We have a winna' !!!

Happyflowerlady pulls off another great victory, correctly identifying this item as a a combination match & cigarette holder and ashtray. The way I see it, the little cup on the left was for matches, the rectangular panels on the right for holding a pack of cigarettes and the ashtray is front and center. The "cauldron" I'm not sure of - either it held loose cigarettes or was a receptacle for the butts after they cooled.

Congrats Happyflowerlady for the win, thanks everyone for the short but satisfying round of WII, and Sid -

... Sid, don't take this the wrong way, but you really should seek some professional counseling, Brother ...

... and oh, yeah, they're cats.

:playful:;)

Yes Master.

I promise to just sit on my typing fingers for the next time or two. Besides, you can only have just so many "lucky guesses" in a row, so it is about time that I was waayyy off the mark on my next try. (But it was sure fun anyway...)
I really enjoy the WII games, and most of them take us several pages of guessing to figure them out, since Sifu finds such unusual items.
