WHAT IS IT?

Really Phil ! really !?!

It's an antique gynecological device, it is a wooden ******l speculum and obturator. The obturator was used to apply medication to the mouth of the cervix.

E-gads!!! you just wanted somebody to say ******. :playful:

Although I thought the Tobacco Smoke Enema was kind of amusing!

Tobacco Smoke Enema (1750s-1810s)
The tobacco enema was used to infuse tobacco smoke into a patient’s rectum for various medical purposes, primarily the resuscitation of drowning victims. A rectal tube inserted into the anus was connected to a fumigator and bellows that forced the smoke towards the rectum.
The warmth of the smoke was thought to promote respiration, but doubts about the credibility of tobacco enemas led to the popular phrase “blow smoke up one’s ass.”

DING! DING! DING!

We have a winna'!

Old Hipster has really pegged this one, folks! It is indeed a ******l speculum and obturator, used for applying both medications and, upon occasions (hold your breath!) leeches to the mouth of the cervix.

Good job, OH! And on the second reply as well!

I'm more interested in how Phil knew what it was.

My knowledge knows no bounds, m'Lady ... :devilish:

Congrats again to Old Hipster and thanks everyone for a short but enjoyable session!

Thank you thank you very much (in my best Elvis voice)

Pappy I have found I can blow smoke up somebodies ass quite well and no device is necessary. :untroubled:

Thanks again!

I have a very keen interest in antiques of all sorts and history. And also a morbid curiosity about medieval torture devices and sometimes that for me spills over into the old medical equipment arena.

How's that for blowing smoke up your ass.:playful:
