Today's WII is made of wood, brass and iron and probably hails from the 1910's - 1920's.

What Is It?

Wow, good guess, but unfortunately no.

(That's actually what I thought it was when I first saw it!)

Antique combination - crowbar/shovel thingie....kinda like a Swiss army knife type of deal. No, not really. :p

Something to do with horses...... ;)

Scraping or filing horses' hooves ?

For prising off a horseshoe. ?

I am inclined to think you both are right, one end is for cleaning the frog and the other is to lever off the shoe

DING! DING! DING! DING!

We have a winna'!!!

I'm going to award a shared 1st Place to Anne and Falcon for correctly identifying this item as a hoof scraper, with the formal name of Butteris (also spelled Buttris and Buttress).

It is a farrier's tool (this one is a French version) used for trimming the inside of the hoof and for smoothing the bottom surface. The wooden part of the butteris is placed against the farrier's shoulder and pressure is applied by moving the shoulder forward.

Honorable 2nd Place to Di and Jill.

Congrats to Anne and Falcon, Di and Jill, and thanks everyone for your awesome answers!
