Wasn't Sir E. Hilary's radio comm on the Everest expedition?
DING! DING! DING!
We have a winna' !!!
Diwundrin has correctly identified this as one of the
WALKIE-TALKIES used on his historic ascent of Mt. Everest in 1953. The device was specially adapted by the UK firm Pye Telecommunications for the extremes of weather and temperature on Everest, and allowed the team to receive broadcasts from the outside world and to communicate with their camps.
Congratulations Di and thanks all for your brilliant answers!
Now then ...
PYE radio equipment used in 1953 in expeditions of Everest.
Made to withstand the cold temps.
Di wins...I cheated.
Phil I think I should be banned from any future What is it games...I will always cheat.
You SHOULD be banned, young lady! In all of my 75 years of administering this series of tests I have NEVER encountered such outright trickery, deceit and falsehood!
Shocked, I am!
SHOCKED !!!
If I were of a mind to I would report you forthwith to the proper authorities, but I have received a plea of clemency from some firm named Apple (?), so I have hopes that the spanking I am now going to administer will serve as both an object lesson to you and a sick entertainment for me.
DAMN AUTOCORRECT!
That last line should read:
"... an object lesson for you and a sick emu for me."
No, wait -
" ... an object lesson for you and a sad erection for me."
ARRRRRGH!!!!
Don't do it again!
