What is it with American women and our princes, (tongue in cheek question!)?

First Wallis Simpson in the 1930s and the abdication of Edward VIII, and now this one trying to bring the whole thing to its knees. A tongue in cheek comment really, so please dont get upset anyone, hopefully we'll all be endlessly forgiving in the end, and we did take to Meghan to begin with, (or at least I did):

Diana and Meghan were the two members of the Royal Family that were my favorites over the years. But of course, I also admired the Queen also. I love the idea that one of them is American born! It pleases me to no end! I hope my British ancestors are not shocked. :)

Grace Kelly was another one. I kinda remember reading some time ago about a few other USA ladies who married some royalty or other in some much lesser well known countries.

Personally, I can not understand how Harry, a guy who earned much respect over his military duty, has turned into such woose.

I agree with you. When speaking of love, who knows what triggers those heartstrings?

You might well ask, “What is it with these British Royals?”
Of course, but if you don't mind my saying, "They've been around doing what they do, fulfilling this possibly anachronistic role for so many centuries, this must give them some kind of seniority".

In addition, hard as it might be to fully understand what's expected of whoever they marry, it isn't a secret that there are rules and conventions to be accepted by anyone entering such a marriage and privileged position, where hopefully you get taken to the hearts of millions!

Anyway, I'm saying all this " tongue in cheek" because whatever issues there might be, "it does not add up to a whole hill of beans does it really, in the great scheme of things, (to use an Americanism! :) ).

@grahamg don't get me started on Haznoballs and his Mattress Actress Harpy.
Don't be too harsh, things will all work out in the end.

It might be quicker if they grow up and stop pretending they "love everybody" as they pronounce in front of crowds at some events, start treating Meghan's dad like a fallible human being rather than a pariah, and essentially grow up a bit, (then we'll see just how strong their live for one another really is!).

@grahamg Exactly!
The way she treats her father is disgusting!
I do think she just needs to show the ability to forgive, (I'm sure he's a rum bloke, but not all bad).

I did used to think, especially after Thomas Markle spoke so well of our royal family, whilst praising his daughter at the same time, our royal famiy could have reached out to him in some way, (though this would have been fraught with difficulty I admit).

Yes, I was also surprised they didn't reach out to him.
How can she treat him that bad after everything he did for her, my heart breaks for him?

My heart doesn't break for him, because it appears he's a resourceful bloke, and he has other family doesn't he, so he'll most likely be able to be philosophical about being shunned.
You do expect our royal family reaching out to Thomas Markle would have been seen as a transgression by Meghan, (now yet another transgression of course!), so whatever they did do to try to include her father would have been highly problematic. Perhaps criticism of Harry could be in order for his lack of respect for the man would have been a reasonable step to take(?).

I caught a little of an interview prince Harry gave stating, "Meghan does not have a father", ( or " From that point on Meghan did not have a father", because of something or other he's supposed to have done).

As you can probably imagine his statement, (and many others from both Meghan and Harry), has not gone down well, especially with the Markle family!

Everything is supposed to be about "respect", (or lack of respect), and yet here that both are showing such a degree of disrespect themselves. You don't have to be a genius to see the weaknesses in their arguments on that point, but the two of them may only do so when this " love affair" we're all supposed to believe in, starts to cool a bit.

That's what love does to you or him. lol

Are you serious? He has other family and that makes it all better does it?
That's the most sugar-coated piece of Bovine Scat I have ever heard!

And don't bother quoting me as I am done with this!
