What is old?

Age is really a frame of mind. I've met people in their 20's who seem older than me, who are jaded and have no interest in the world around them. On the other hand, I have known people in their 80's who have a great deal of physical and mental energy.

Terrific video :)

I agree that it is not an easy thing to say I am "old".It is too broad a brush to paint myself with right now,I agree it is more a frame of mind than what our age number says for us.

Great video Ameriscot! The older I get the older I think old is. :p When I was young, I thought old was over 50. Then I thought old was over 60. Now that I'm in my 60s, I think old is over 80.

Like Pinky, I think it's a state of mind too. In my head I still think like a 20 year old sometimes and don't recognize how old I really am, until I look in the mirror of course, especially with my readers on. :playful: I too have met people who were much younger than me, who acted older, cynical, more negative about life, etc. Some older folks are much more alive than some younger ones, IMO.

We don't get old, everyone around us does...I look at my oldest son holding his son, receding hairline at thirty. Wait, I remember him in high school...as a Ninja Turtle...as a newborn...WHEN did this happen?????!!!!!

I remember thinking 40 was old, then 50, then 60.... At 64 I feel young. What I think of as old or elderly gets farther and farther away. If you can still be silly, you are not old.

Old, old, old. What's so wrong with that? I like to have a more stoic attitude about age. Enjoy the time we have, knowing our time is limited. We do our best to stay fit, exercising, eating well, dressing up, having a positive attitude, but the fact remains. We are getting old. To quote an old friend of mine, 'it doesn't matter, soon we'll all be dead'. So I don't mind getting old, considering the alternative.

"Old" is the cumulation of a lifetime, and how we have lived those years. We all slow down a bit as the years go by, but adapting to the bodies limitations, and modifying the daily routines accordingly, while still staying as active as possible, goes a long way towards allowing the "Golden" years to remain fairly shiny....instead of becoming "Rust". A Positive Attitude is perhaps the Most important factor.

We will all finally get there (if we're lucky). I have finally arrived. I have never scorned old age, for as somebody has said, it is a privilege not afforded to everyone.

Love that one, SB! I occasionally repost that on FB.
