What is 'one' habit you would like to break?

I haven't smoked in 20+ years, but there are times I'd like to take that one long drag, which fills your lungs-especially after dinner.
Trying to tolerate "know it all type of people" I can't stand them and have no use for them in my life. I normally try to be civil to them, but I admit it gets harder to do.

I gotta stop letting stray cats move in. I'm not getting any benefit out of it; not with the ungrateful little turd who moved in most recently, anyway. Guy thinks he owns the place, and everyone in it. I got him a chair and a bed, but he's gotta sit in my recliner and use my chest for a bed. He'll only eat chicken, won't drink from his kitty-fountain, only the sink, he's got 4 scratch posts and still hones his nails on this one livingroom chair, and he never, not ever, acknowledges his name; won't even twitch an ear when I call him. And he's not deaf...he's there in a flash when he hears me open a can or turn on a faucet.

Anyway, I'd like to break my cat "rescue" habit.

Smoking ! I am using 2+1/2 packs/day. When i try to quit, I am an absolutely a nervous wreck.
Nicorette does NOT work at all. Neither does chewing on things like carrots, celery etc
i woke up one morning (about 6-7 years ago) with absolutely NO VISION in my left eye. retinal occlusion. long story short... high BP and cholesterol was confirmed... not surprised. dr said diet/medication could help control medical parts, but SMOKING had to stop! when it sunk in that i now had only ONE eye... no more cigs.

then there's the COST! was $4+ 6-7 years ago. it's my understanding the cost can be double that now.

habit, I really want to give up eating a snack before bedtime, I know I can do it,
why do I have to make it so darn hard. ARG. The right snack would be fine, but
I am tending to eat the wrong snack. For a while now, it has become an unhealthy
habit.

i love giving .....but i hate receiving ....it embarrasses me ....
so this habit i would like to lose.......

It took me awhile to learn to receive graciously, and realize that the giver deserves to feel appreciation for
their kind efforts.
I wish my neighbor would learn this. She is the nicest person I know, but whenever I do something kind for her on the spur of the moment, she starts trying to "pay me back."It makes me feel as if I am angling for favors when I was merely being me! If my husband shovels her walk when it snows, she calls up and thanks us so profusely that we feel embarrassed, then she offers to give us things as if we were seeking payment. I think we should just pay it forward, not backward.

what is the snack?
well, it is a bakery croissant (warmed) with cream cheese and sweet raspberry jelly on top.
And to be honest, extra cream cheese. Right before bedtime like within an hour is not wise.
I am adjusting my thoughts and refuse to repeat this habit tonight..

I understand, I often feel the same.
Why are really good people, that do so much for others embarassed that someone would want to give them gift. I know you do not do things even thinking about someone would get you a gift. You are helpful to others in your life. I bet your are kind and helpful to strangers.

I bet you are like the guy and his wife who helped me at Walmart the other day. Eleven at night, store closing and the car would not start. I opened the hood of the car and hooked up my portable jumper. For some reason, the car did not want to start. They stood right there, we are not leaving you alone in a dark parking lot !! Then I remembered I had the good old fashion jumper cables in the trunk. He got them, hooked me up and got the car started. You are that guy, aren't you?

Putting things off. I spend more time making excuses not to do something than it would take to get on and do it.
I do that same thing. I will say since I joined the board and read what every one gets done each day, I have been able to get more things done. Then I laugh at myself, the chore was done, took no time. I don't know why I do this!!

Every once in a while while driving, if another driver does something really annoying, I may instantly blurt out a particular expletive I otherwise tend to resist using.

I'm a terrible procrastinator. Case in point: I read this thread over an hour ago and knew what I'd answer. As is my habit, I left the tab open and moved on to other tabs where I checked today's headlines, read other SF threads, looked on a retirement site I follow, then noted that I had at least a dozen tabs going on this screen alone (two screens), and eventually circled back to type my answer.

Now I'm actually going to click "Post reply."
Other than using tabs, etc, I could have written this post. I read it, said to myself that’s what I’m going to say too - when I get around to it - soon - ok, I’ve got stuff to do, I’ll come back later.

Sounds like he's waiting for you to move out! :giggle:
