Good advice, but I have a government phone number on my cell phone and if I don’t answer it, the call goes to a central answering service that’s handled by computers and that continues to reach me every 15 minutes and doesn’t stop until I answer it, or the caller kills the call back.

the way the screening works is.. that the phone rings, you pick it up, an automated voice on the other end which you don't hear has already asked the caller to state their name.. when the phone rings your end, you pick it up, the screening service tells you whose calling.... then you press 1 on the number pad to connect the caller if you wish to speak, or just hang up if you don't want to take the call...either way the caller doesn't know you've denied their call ..they're just transferred to the answer machine

yes but you've got to put up with the phone ringing all those times as well... with the screening system once the spammer gets that once or twice, they never call back again. whereas regardless of what you say down the phone.. if you answer it, you're going to be inundated all the time...
